These rings are the most personalized I’ve ever seen.  From the braille ring, to the wedding rings that hold your honey’s fingerprint inside the band, to a laser cut ring that shows the wavelength of you and your spouse saying “I do.”  Seriously, these rings are amazingly personal and one of a kind, not to mention GORGEOUS!

These rings are filled with alternative materials.  Wood, stone, recycled metal shavings, dinosaur bones, and even glitter (it actually makes a very gorgeous inlay, and not at all hokey)!  These natural materials are also one of a kind and BEAUTIFUL.

These last rings are more traditional, yes, and you may even recognize them – they are Mary and her honey, Rick’s, wedding rings!   I really want to highlight the gorgeous pictures you can get of your rings at your wedding.  Not only do you want pictures of you, your loved ones, and all the details you’ve worked so hard on, but aren’t these pictures of the rings GORGEOUS?  And how fun is it to have some really cool set ups of you and your honey’s ring?  I love it!

These hand painted rustic signs are beautiful and informative!  This adds to the style of the wedding which had vintage touches throughout.  We also love the whimsical signage above the bench, complete with pictures of the happy couple!  And the boats (which you may recognize for Utah Bride and Groom Magazine) were hand made by the talented bride!  So cute!

We love the typewriter – and using it to have the guests lend a loving wish or great advice is an amazing way to have your guests leave a personal note that the couple can cherish for many years to come!

We have been seeing a lot of alternative ideas to the traditional ‘guest book’ where the guests just sign their names – not a very personal reminder of all the most important people you’ve invited to share this day!  This wedding’s idea is definitely a favorite!  The couple wanted to create a “family tree” and had each guest lend their thumbprint to the tree and sign their name.  What a fantastic way to show your new family coming together!  We love it!

Today, I am thrilled that our newest addition, Holly Fowler, wanted to share some of her favorite ideas for a fun and creative DIY backdrop/accent wall!  Take it away, Holly!

“One of Culinary Crafts’s favorite things we’ve seen is when an event uses a fun or creative backdrop to set off a space at an event location.  Whether its a pinwheel wall behind the bride and groom during the ceremony, a wall of lights and fabric behind the bridal party table, or even a fabric ribbon garland to amp up the dessert table, each makes a very definite focal point at the event and guests will be drawn to the important areas in the room!  Not to mention, each of these elevate your overall design in infinite ways.  Even better, each of these ideas are simple and could easily be created by you as a DIY!  For example, the fabric ribbon garland is super easy to create.  All you need is varying fabrics in the color and patterns you like, then you cut or tear the fabric (depending on the feel you want) in differing lengths.  As soon as you feel like you have a good amount to create your ‘wall’, randomly attach the fabric lengths to a string or wire the width of the table you are dressing.  Remember to mix colors, patterns, and lengths to create a evenly weighted look.  Use all of the fabric and add as needed to fill in the spaces.  Remember, you can use more or less fabric, again, it is all about the look you are going for.  Hang the string or wire from the ceiling and voila!  You have a DIY fabric garland wall that takes your table from ordinary to extraordinary!”

What an impact framing makes!  The use of the structure to hang draperies really helps to frame the table beautifully and take the table up a notch.  Add the chandeliers to that and this table is over the top!  I also love that this works for both indoor and outdoor events!

Another thing that sets off this cake table (or any table, for that matter) is the use of fantastic details.  From the beautifully designed cake flavor cards that are accented with a vintage brooch, to the sweet ruffles with a strawberry on top, to the macaroon trees perfectly matching the bride’s color palette, and all the little touches in between!  This simple, yet impactful, attention to detail elevates this cake table from ordinary to extraordinary!  Your guests will be delighted at all of the offerings and eye candy to enjoy!

Lastly, look at these chandeliers!  I love how something as simple and affordable as a dessert display can be transformed to something… magical!  Chandeliers add beauty and an unexpected touch – especially outdoors.  It really does set the table off in a totally unexpected way!  Happy planning everyone!

As you may have guessed, we here at Culinary Crafts LOVE weddings.  We love all the traditions a wedding celebrates and the beauty of joining two people very much in love.  One of our favorite things at a wedding (besides the food!) is the 1st dance!  This dance is even more amazing if the couple have taken dance lessons – and luckily, we have an AWESOME studio right here in the heart of Salt Lake City!  Utah Ballroom Dance (which is part of the DF Dance Studio Network) has received Best of State awards for being THE BEST dance instruction studio in Utah, so you know you are in good hands!  Even better, they have a special Wedding Program with private lessons and they’ll even help you choose a song and choreograph a dance that is personalized for you!  The 1st dance is a special time for a new couple, but it is also a time when all eyes are on you – so getting dance lessons definitely help you to feel comfortable in the spotlight and have fun too!  Happy weekend everyone!

One of the most delicious and awesome stations that Culinary Crafts offers is the Grilled Ciabatta Station!  This station (pictured above from Mary Crafts-Homer’s wedding reception) is always a hit and provides guests with a myriad of choices to pair with these delicious breads.  From silky goat cheese, to savory sun dried tomato chutney, to sweet balsamic fig chutney, and a selection of  gourmet Beehive Cheeses, you have a mouth-watering array of delightful choices for your guests to nosh on!  Not to mention, we grill our homemade ciabatta bread on site, over mesquite wood chips for optimum flavor and smell!  Yum!  This is also an option that pairs well with nearly ANY menu (and the pairings can be changed to suit your tastes).  Plus, its a relatively inexpensive way to add something extra to your wedding or event food offerings!  It is seriously one of my favorite stations and I think a great option to please the palette of many people!  Happy planning everyone!

Today, I’d like to share one of the most important tools that any bride can have while planning her wedding: an inspiration board!  Inspiration boards allow you to create a color palette, choose a style, and put it all together so you get a sense of what your perfect day will look like (and if its what you have been dreaming of).  Then, you will have a way to show your wedding planner, florist, or caterer what you are wanting!  Having photographs and a visual board will help everyone get on board with your vision!  How awesome is that?  Plus, in today’s modern world, the tools available to create inspiration boards have never been easier to find and use.  From Style Me Pretty’s free account that lets you create boards from the thousands of images in their database to Pinterest that allows you to pin everything you’ve ever looked at on the web and piece your perfect board together – it seriously is AMAZINGLY easy (not to mention FUN) to put together all sorts of possibilities!  We at Culinary Crafts LOVE when a bride comes in with an inspiration board, because we definitely get a sense of her taste, style, and what she’s hoping for at her wedding and then we can hit the ground running with ideas to help create her dream day.  So, if you are a bride, definitely check out Style Me Pretty or Pinterest (or make your own!) and have fun!!!  Happy planning!
