Whiskey Barrel Love | Favorite Finds Friday

Friday, 11 May, 2012

We here at Culinary Crafts recently came into some old, rustic whiskey barrels (i.e. we saw them, fell in love, and HAD to have them) and we are SO excited to start using them for our weddings this year!  From dessert and cake displays, to buffet stations, to lemonade stands and favor tables – whiskey barrels find a home and purpose for so many things.  Plus, they are just beautiful!  I love the texture, the look, and the vibe you get from something with a story and a past.  Not all shiny and new, these whiskey barrels have the look of time about them, and it is SO good.  We are so looking forward to incorporating them into our event, but in the meantime, here are some of our ideas and visions for all the thigs we can (and will!) do with our newly procured barrels!  Take a look!

Stunning, right?  And perfect for a rustic and romantic wedding in a mountain setting, if you don’t mind me saying!  Happy weekend everyone and look forward to seeing our barrels make appearances in Culinary Crafts events soon!!!

Gold Is In! | Trendy Tuesday

Tuesday, 27 March, 2012

We here at Culinary Crafts are gearing up for this upcoming wedding season and let me tell you, GOLD IS IN!  We are seeing many of our brides move away from stainless steel, platinum, and silver and moving to gold – but not necessarily bright polished golds that may instantly come to mind.  Burnished golds, aged golds, and rose golds are definitely the stars of this trend. I love the versatility and warmth of this metal!  From elegant rustic, bright modern styles, romantic vintage, and high fashion drama – gold can enhance it all!  Take a look!

Love this rustic, elegant board mixing the pops of burnished gold with natural touches of ivory and wood.  It adds an air of glamour to even the most rustic decor and is visually captivating admist the neutral palette – it elevates the table from pretty to show-stopper for sure!

Gold is a fun an unexpected element in these bold color palettes!  I love the added whimsy and polish it lends to even the most adventurous details!  (The gold horse as a plate ornament is simply amazing, I must say!)

This vintage, romantic style brings in gold tones through florals and sets them off with chandeliers, the ribbon sash on a wedding dress, and the STUNNING yellow sapphire.  This adds warmth and depth to the sometimes subdued vintage palettes.

Finally, this dramatic board takes the gold to a rich and gorgeous level.  Setting off the jewel toned palettes and amping up the drama of such deep colors is not for the faint of heart!  The result, however, is a sumptuous and breathtaking opulence that really sets the tone for a one-of-a-kind event!

I love this trend and the many ways to incorporate it into any event!  Gold is a metal that simply stands out and cannot be ignored – which is definitely a good thing!  I hope this inspires you to think of the many possibilities gold could lend to your wedding day – whether it be a ring unlike any other or a show-stopping decor!  Happy planning everyone!

Tuesday Trends: Thanksgiving Decor Ideas

Tuesday, 22 November, 2011

For the holidays, more and more people are creating beautiful decor for entertaining in their home.  Not only do people want gracious hosts, time with family and friends, and good food, they also love the extra touch of elegance and beauty that decoration provides.  That doesn’t mean you have to hire a designer, spend a fortune, or be a craft goddess though!  I’ve found a bunch of easy and inexpensive ways to dress up your homes for Thanksgiving!  Take a look!

This floral centerpiece, which was at one of our favorite fall events, incorporates a simple floral arrangement in a small vase and plays up the season with the leaves and color scheme.  This simple arrangement is gorgeous and easy for any table!

What better way to welcome your guests into your home than a beautifully crafted wreath?  This seasonal wreath is very easy to make, but may take some time to gather materials and put it all together.  All you need is a foam wreath base, glue gun, pinecones, and ribbon for hanging.  Affix the pinecones to the wreath base with the glue, tie the ribbon around the top when you are done and voila!  A beautiful wreath is born!

These glowing candle votives are another easy project that are simple, yet gorgeous for the table or on your hearth.  You’ll need leaves, spray adhesive, candle holders and candles.  Just spray the leaves with adhesive, then affix the leaves to the candleholder, making sure to leave a little hanging below the candleholder’s base.  When the glue has dried, cut the leaves that hang below the base, and that’s it!  Easy peasy!

Hollowed out gourds are a fantastic and fun alternative to standard snack bowls.  Not to mention that they are totally festive!  One note: Gourds naturally will give moisture to the snack in the bowl, so items like chips, pretzels, or chocolates probably wouldn’t work very well.  Different types of olives are perfect though!

This super easy centerpiece is a quick and beautiful solution.  You can pick up inexpensive stem or bud vases and find vivid fallen leaves.  The beauty of this centerpiece is that the vases don’t need to match!  In fact, the more variety the better!

And lastly, this fun (and eco friendly!) pumpkin place holder is from one of my favorite design sources anywhere!  Design*Sponge!  I’ll link to their tutorial here, complete with a step-by-step and photographs!  Believe me, its such a fun project and one your guests will definitely enjoy!

I hope these easy projects give you plenty of ideas for your table decor!  Happy Thanksgiving planning everyone!

Trendy Tuesday: Pumpkins and Pinterest

Tuesday, 11 October, 2011

Hi all!  Well, its officially fall and with the grand entrance of October, its time to turn to fall and harvest decor!  And what says “fall” better than pumpkins?  Autumn, of Riehl Events, highlights the versatility of pumpkin decor with some of her favorite Pinterest finds!  Take it away Autumn!

“I have begun to settle into the fact that summer is officially gone and autumn is inevitably on its way. In addition to an increase in apple flavored delicacies and the return of hot chocolate to the scene, this symbolizes the incorporation of the pumpkin into home and event décor. Pumpkin ideas have been popping up all over Pinterest for months, and here are a few of my favorite finds:

Fancy-schmancy pumpkins:

Pumpkins are also great to use in a more functional way for your wedding or event:
