Gorgeous Party at the Hope Gallery | Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday, 12 December, 2012

Today, I’d like to share with you an intimate and GORGEOUS party Culinary Crafts catered recently at the Hope Gallery.  Not only is the Hope Gallery one of our favorite venues anywhere, it is one of the best places for an intimate gathering where you really want to WOW your guests by the surrounding beauty!  This venue is not only stunningly appointed, but is curated to hold only the most breathtaking of art work – which is great fodder for conversation starters, I must say.  With the onset of holiday parties in our midst, we wanted to showcase some really gorgeous, yet festive linens – not to mention DELICIOUS food that will show your guests that you are really very blessed to have them at your party!  Take a look!

Such a warm and pretty place to host an event!  We LOVE the Hope Gallery and all of the beauty it holds!!!

I love the different, yet beautiful, use of succulents for the center pieces – not to mention the chair linens!  This is certainly a fun winter palette, or jazz it up even more with splashes of red if you’d like to have a traditional Christmas-y palette.  Thrown in more blue and silver-y tones and succulents to just call on the snow and winter-y colors for a more encompassing holiday palette.

Yum!  A sit down, plated dinner is always a show-stopping way to wow every guest.  Add some truly decadent dishes and your party will be the talk of the town!  At this event, guests were served a showcase dinner featuring Utah foods and our very own Mary Crafts-Homer was on site to speak with guests and regale them with her culinary knowledge and expertise in the event world!

We loved the beauty and warmth of this event and hope it inspires you to kick your own holiday parties up a notch with delicious food, gorgeous settings, and great people!  Happy planning, everyone!

Elegant Red Butte Wedding | Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday, 17 October, 2012

Today, I’d like to share a chic and elegant Utah wedding that Culinary Crafts catered in one of our favorite spaces – The Orangerie at Red Butte Gardens.  This soft palette of pewter, mint, and blush pink was understated and gorgeous, not to mention perfectly blended with the natural beauty of the space.  And the menu!!!  The guests were greeted by butlers with and array of passed hors d’oeuvres like Roasted Corn Cakes with Goat Cheese and Honey, Parmigiano Stuffed Dates Wrapped in Proscuitto and Rock Shrimp with Wasabi Aioli and Thai Chili Sauce.  YUM!  Later, they dined on a Summer Buffet with Sesame Crusted Eggplant layered with Sauteed Vegetables served over a Barley Salad with Tomatoes, Scallions, Cucumber and Mint Lime Dressing and a Green Coconut Curry Sauce, Jack Daniels Puree of Yam with Buttered Pecans, Spinach and Romaine Salad with Goat Cheese, Dried Cranberries, Pears and Candied Walnuts with a Caramelized Onion Balsamic Vinaigrette, and Seared Asparagus with Lemon and Parmesan Curls.  Add the touches of sumptuous linens,  divine peonies, and delicate (yet scrumptious!) macarons which were in the wedding colors, natch, and you have a seriously beautiful event that guests will remember for a lifetime!  Take a look!

Sometimes simple yet beautiful is the best way to make a big impact, and that was definitely the case at this wedding!  Happy planning everyone!

DIY Project: Wine Bottle Glasses! | Favorite Finds Friday

Friday, 5 October, 2012

Today, I’d like to share a nifty little DIY project that we at Culinary Crafts recently put into good use at one of our weddings (which was GORGEOUS – by the way) and couldn’t resist sharing it with you!  These upcycled wine bottle glasses are really very easy and a BEAUTIFUL addition to any event or party you might be having!  Take a look!

All you need to do to make these little beauties is a wine bottle, string, lighter fluid, a lighter, and some sand paper.  Firstly, dip your string in the lighter fluid then tie it around the wine bottle.  Make sure the string is fairly straight so your glass has a nice edge.  Next, use the lighter to light the string on fire.  Let it burn for a couple seconds and then blow it out.  Remove the string and tape the line where the string burned lightly until the top of the wine bottle separates from the bottle.  Then take the sand paper and sand down the cut top of the glass to eliminate sharp or dangerous edges.  That’s it!  You now have a wonderful, upcycled glass that is pretty and made of reclaimed materials!  Pretty awesome, if you ask me!  Happy weekend everyone!

Green Bride Guide Approved! | Trendy Tuesday

Tuesday, 11 September, 2012

Hello all!  We are happy to announce that we have been accepted and approved as a vendor in The Green Bride Guide!  As you know, we at Culinary Crafts are always trying to figure out ways to be better ecological stewards in our community and believe that being green is the best way for us to give back to our community and maintain the highest quality and integrity of service to our clients.  Take a look at a little bit of the press release from The Green Bride Guide:

Culinary Crafts is approved as a Green Bride Guide green wedding vendor!

Culinary Crafts has been selected by the Green Bride Guide, the #1 green wedding website, for inclusion in their Green Wedding Directory (www.greenbrideguide.com/directory).

The Green Bride Guide is the most comprehensive and credible green wedding resource online. The Directory is like a Yellow Pages for green weddings that provides a centralized resource of green wedding vendors, searchable by geographic area.

This year, almost 50% of couples are looking to include green elements in their events, and 85% are concerned about greenwashing, the passing off of non-green companies as eco-friendly. To address these concerns, the Green Bride Guide screens all vendors in the directory and displays their green practices in their profiles.  Culinary Crafts received a 5.4 leaf rating from the Green Bride Guide.

We are so thrilled to be a part of such worthwhile service for all the couples out there that take the environment and their footprint on this Earth into consideration when celebrating such a big event in their lives.  Culinary Crafts is proud to be green and proud to make the world a better place!  Happy Tuesday everyone!

Newpark Hotel | Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday, 18 April, 2012

Today we wanted to give a little shout out to one of our favorite venues/resorts in Park City – The Newpark Resort and Hotel!  This gem is located right next door to the Swaner Eco Center (which is also fab) and boasts beautiful rooms, fabulous decor, and is close to everything in Park City!  Plus, they incorporated a lot of green design throughout, which we love, and really focused on make the space feel at one with the beauty of the nature that surrounds them.  I’d say they definitely succeeded!  Take a look!

What a gorgeous place to host an event or just to get away for a stay-cation!  Plus, some of the rooms even have their own private hot tubs, which after a long day skiing or hiking in the Park City mountains sounds like a welcome treat!  Happy adventuring everyone!

Spotlight on: A Pretty Poolside Wedding!

Well everyone, summer is almost officially here!  (If only the weather would cooperate!)  But, luckily, we snagged some sunny skies one of these past weekends for this picture perfect poolside wedding!  Check it out!

What a gorgeous day!

This buffet is a perfect addition to any summer event.  Light yet refreshing.  Not to mention tasty!  Mmmm….

Love the variations on the lemonade!  How fun!

Not only was this wedding beautiful and chock full of delicious food, but the green and yellow color palette was a perfect summer choice.  Add the contrast of the blue skies and this event is drop dead gorgeous!  We are sure to see more sunny skies in equally beautiful events coming up!

St Patrick’s Day Recipes!

Wednesday, 16 March, 2011

Seeing as tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d share some delicious recipes I’ve found for any celebration you may have in mind!  A little history tidbit first though.  St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday in which St. Patrick, one of the most commonly recognized patron saints of Ireland, is honored every year in remembrance of his death, which was March 17th, 461.  Also, the shamrocks became a recognized symbol of St. Patrick because he commonly used the plant to explain the Holy Trinity during his nearly 30 year history of teaching Christianity across Ireland.   And originally, the color associated with St. Patrick’s Day was blue, however, that began to shift (as early as the 17th century) to the green color we associate with it now.  So wear some green, celebrate, and eat some delicious Irish fare!  Happy celebrating readers!
