DIY Project: Wine Bottle Glasses! | Favorite Finds Friday

Friday, 5 October, 2012

Today, I’d like to share a nifty little DIY project that we at Culinary Crafts recently put into good use at one of our weddings (which was GORGEOUS – by the way) and couldn’t resist sharing it with you!  These upcycled wine bottle glasses are really very easy and a BEAUTIFUL addition to any event or party you might be having!  Take a look!

All you need to do to make these little beauties is a wine bottle, string, lighter fluid, a lighter, and some sand paper.  Firstly, dip your string in the lighter fluid then tie it around the wine bottle.  Make sure the string is fairly straight so your glass has a nice edge.  Next, use the lighter to light the string on fire.  Let it burn for a couple seconds and then blow it out.  Remove the string and tape the line where the string burned lightly until the top of the wine bottle separates from the bottle.  Then take the sand paper and sand down the cut top of the glass to eliminate sharp or dangerous edges.  That’s it!  You now have a wonderful, upcycled glass that is pretty and made of reclaimed materials!  Pretty awesome, if you ask me!  Happy weekend everyone!

Dress Up the Outdoors! | Trendy Tuesday

Tuesday, 31 January, 2012

One of my favorite things for weddings this year is the use of chandeliers!  We here at Culinary Crafts LOVE they way they transform something “run of the mill” to pure elegance and refinement!  A perfect example is this gorgeous wedding we showed you this summer!  Take a look!

What an impact framing makes!  The use of the structure to hang draperies really helps to frame the table beautifully and take the table up a notch.  Add the chandeliers to that and this table is over the top!  I also love that this works for both indoor and outdoor events!

Another thing that sets off this cake table (or any table, for that matter) is the use of fantastic details.  From the beautifully designed cake flavor cards that are accented with a vintage brooch, to the sweet ruffles with a strawberry on top, to the macaroon trees perfectly matching the bride’s color palette, and all the little touches in between!  This simple, yet impactful, attention to detail elevates this cake table from ordinary to extraordinary!  Your guests will be delighted at all of the offerings and eye candy to enjoy!

Lastly, look at these chandeliers!  I love how something as simple and affordable as a dessert display can be transformed to something… magical!  Chandeliers add beauty and an unexpected touch – especially outdoors.  It really does set the table off in a totally unexpected way!  Happy planning everyone!

Monday Musing: Lavender Wedding

Monday, 5 December, 2011

We here at Culinary Crafts cater over 300 weddings a year so it would make sense that our entire team of
wedding specialists work constantly to create flawless celebrations for dozens of brides every week – and one of our recent favorites was a gorgeous outdoor wedding, complete with gorgeous decor, scrumptious food, and fabulous florals.  One of my favorite ways to create a unique look that is simple yet stunning is by using non-traditional flowers or plants at your event – and this wedding had just that!  Whether its succulents, holly, kale, artichokes, rosemary, or lavender,  these options definitely add a feeling of natural and organic beauty.  In this wedding, they chose to use lavender to add the purple pop to their color palette and it was beautiful in their outdoor garden venue.  They had a simple elegant design and the sprigs of the beautiful purple blooms added a bit of visual interest (and I’m sure smelled WONDERFUL). Take a look!

Not only was their wedding drop dead GORGEOUS, but they had a ton of DELICIOUS food from yours truly!   At this wedding, the rustic wood fire pizza oven fit right in – as did the pizza, which was provided one of our favorite new vendor partners, Surefire Pizza, of course! Pair that with one of our new favorite action stations, the doughnut bar, and you have an event that’s dreamy, delectable, and down right STUNNING.  Happy planning!

A Wedding at Johnson Mill

Thursday, 14 October, 2010

Today, I’d like to showcase a wedding that was in a truly gorgeous setting: the Johnson Mill.  This wedding really worked with the beauty available to them and enhanced it with bursts of colorful flowers and some natural wood elelments seen in the vineyard tables and the branch entwined arbor at the ceremony site. Lets get to the pictures, shall we?

What a setting!  Truly stunning.

Love the natural feel of the vineyard tables.  These definitely add a refined elegance to any event.

Unfortunately the skies opened up on us, but both the guests and the staff didn’t let it ruin their fun!

Luckily, it cleared up quickly and was a beautiful day once again.  We even had a rainbow to add some natural beauty to this already wonderful wedding!

A simply stunning wedding that reminds us to always work with your venue.  A lot of the natural characteristics of the setting can add to your event in infinite ways. Also remember that a little upset like a rain shower can end up creating some great memories and beautiful skies!
