80s Party Extravaganza! | Food Theory Thursday

Thursday, 27 December, 2012

It’s almost time to hit the fantastic New Year’s Eve parties that are bound to be about in this coming week, and with that in mind, I thought this over-the-top 80s party was a PERFECT inspiration for any of you still looking for party ideas!  We at Culinary Crafts love any excuse to have a party and if you are going to throw one at all, why not do it to the nines?  Well, this party TOTALLY did just that.  A DeLorean, Mr. T (yes, the REAL Mr. T), an 80s dance party, and massive amounts of DELICIOUS food?  Well, that, my friends, is how you throw the ultimate 80s bash!  Check it out!

Not only did the band keep everyone dancin’ on the ceiling, but a comedy routine from Mr. T was the ultimate 80s surprise.  I pity the fool who wasn’t at this party!  (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

Two of the eight (yes, eight!) action stations for the hungry dudes and dudettes – featuring the Asian Short Ribs Station and the Southwest Grill Station!  Yum!

Love that the guests went all out!  It really takes the party to the next level when everyone gets into the spirit of the theme.

Another one of our fantastic action stations – this one, the Chinese Sizzling Wok Station – was a DEFINITE crowd favorite.

Love that the butler-passed popcorn and treats were in the radical 80s colors seen throughout the space!  So fun!

We also brought in 2 ring of fire stations with our signature Flaming Donuts topped off with house made Eggnog gelato!  Seriously, my favorite station EVER.

As you can tell, this party was completely rad!  But, you don’t have to go this over the top to have a fun and festive party of your own!  Remember to mix food stations throughout your space to keep people mingling and play upbeat music that will put everyone in a party mood.  Also, if you are working with a themed party, its all in the details!  Little things like keeping treats in a color palette or creating signage that harkens back to the theme will have a big impact – but above all, remember to have fun!  It’s a party after all!  Happy celebrating, everyone!

A Rock N’ Roll Bar Mitzvah | Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday, 27 June, 2012

Editor’s Note: When we previously posted this event, the designer credit for Kim Albers Events was left off in error.  We sincerely apologize to Kim and have added it now.  We are so proud to show off another astounding event by Kim Albers and are always excited to be able to do such FABULOUS events with such a wonderful vendor partner!

Today I want to share a recent Bar Mitzvah we did at one of our favorite venues, The Leonardo in downtown Salt Lake City – and what a show stopping event it was!  The theme, David’s World Tour, was a fantastic over-the-top experience for the guests and was chock full of fabulous florals, extraordinary decor, and, of course, delectable food!  I think this event definitely shows that The Leonardo is a one of a kind venue for a beautiful wedding or an extravagant affair fit for a rock concert!  Take a look!

Congrats to David!  Culinary Crafts loved being a part of your Bar Mitzvah and being a key component to such a AMAZING event!  Happy planning everyone!

A Halloween Spooktacular!

Tuesday, 12 October, 2010

Happy Tuesday!  Its about that time again.  What time you ask?  Why Halloween time!  I’m bringing a fantastic costume party to you all that hopefully gives you some inspiration to have a Halloween event of your own!  Here are the pictures!

Using your own yard is always a great way to set the scene.  Also using everyday items like pumpkins, apples, and leaves is an inexpensive way to create beautiful centerpieces that hold with the theme.

Encouraging guests to dress up can really allow people to get creative, interact, and have fun all while allowing them to let loose!

This party had a variety of hors d’oeuvres that all were quintessential comfort foods.  Hors d’oeuvres are a great way to offer a lot of different choices and sticking with comfort foods is always a great way to satisfy a broad array of appetites.

Inexpensive tea lights create a spooky vibe and foam bats are always easy and fun.  Using one to point to a “bat room” keeps your theme amusing.

The caramel apple station was a big hit and people really loved being able to create their own sweet treat.

I hope this inspires you to throw your own spooky celebration!  Remember, keeping it light hearted and using fun details makes for a memorable night for all your guests!
