A Barbeque Worthy of Labor Day!

By

Hi all!  I thought it would be nice to post a spectacular barbeque today, seeing as its Labor Day, and many of you may be partaking of hanging out with family and friends and having barbeques of your own!  Here is a little description from Rachel, who oversaw the event:

"Well, this was just about the funnest rehearsal dinner...ever!!!  We roasted a whole pig on a spit,  North Carolina style, y'all! Guests enjoyed some good ol' fashioned barbecue with collard greens, watermelon, bourbon buttered corn on the cob, rich and delicious mac and cheese, and grilled vegetables with a mango chutney.  The pig had been mopped all day in a vinegar based North Carolina sauce and when we pulled the meat off the bone, folks began to swoon over the succulent pork pieces.  We wrapped things up with strawberry shortcake and sent everyone into the night."

Kaleb headed up the pig roast portion, which took 8 hours of turning all day long!

We wanted it to be casual, yet, fun with all of the details.  Bandana napkins were tied with rafia around bamboo flatware at each setting, we created darling alternating centerpieces with bright yellow daisies in red buckets and wooden containers, hand written chalkboard signs, and an amazing bluegrass band all helped to create a wonderful evening with family and friends.

As the nighttime approached our red and yellow star lanterns lit up the night!  How gorgeous!

I hope all of you are enjoying your Labor Day and if you are planning a barbeque, I hope we've given you a few ideas how to make it really stand out!
