Repost from Strictly Weddings: Equestrian Wedding Dreams for the Gold N’ Glam

By

Culinary Crafts is so honored to share this feature from Strictly Weddings of one of our most gorgeous inspiration shoots of all time!!! Check it out!
Equestrian Wedding Dreams for the Gold N’ Glam
Equestrian wedding dreams are not just for the little girls who once wished for a pony. Chic farm style fetes are one of the hottest trends any season of the year. Today’s feature focuses on inspiration that comes in all shapes and sizes including the four-legged variety. A vision of cabernet and gold, bubbly champagne, too pretty to eat cakes, Utah’s beautiful Red Cliff Ranch scenery blended with a formal equestrian flair is all artfully captured by photographer Pepper Nix.
Gold N’ Glam Appeal
A variety of pink and red hues, fused with gold and black present a more formal mood and eloquently create something unexpected. Moving away from a country feel this talented group of wedding and event vendors capitalized on rich textures and luscious color tones. Sit back and take in the beauty of this fine affair – you will forget that you are looking at a styled shoot. Immediately drawn in by its equestrian wedding Gold N’ Glam appeal!

A Fusion of Cabernet and Gold
Not shying away from the growing popular use of gold, chairs, fine textured linens, flatware and goblets glistened in the metallic hue. To accent this royal theme a hint of cabernet chargers and red napkins were used to offset and provide a deeper opulence. A lace and silk swag draped the doors of the ranch stable for a grand entrance. While Studio Stems translated their floral creations into a traditional and formal style, keeping top-of-mind how the flower vessels would interact with the overall vibe and theme. First using a wide based rustic gold urn to hold a rich and contrasting ensemble of blooms. To help the table move with all its elements cohesively, they incorporated small antique gold glass cylinders and bowls with small arrangements as satellites around the main centerpiece. Studio Stem incorporated many of the same blooms used in the bridal bouquet for cohesiveness with the addition of red tulips, geranium leaf, plumose, rambling spray roses, and one large focal bloom in the form of a giant blush protea.

Farm Fresh to Table
Culinary Crafts who presented oysters on the half shelf topped with black sturgeon caviar set the air of fine cuisine. To utilize the idea of farm fresh to table, flavors of unadorned lump crab and bell pepper duxelle combined with a bite of heirloom cherry tomato would be passed to start the meal. In the cooler months, a warm soup course over cold salad for a truly formal dinner would be served. The rich golden color of the butternut soup suited perfectly to the tablescape. The cider cream and toasted pepitos (pumpkin seeds) garnished the top. We love the simple white porcelain bowl that allows the soup to shine on the red and gold place setting.

Ganache and Gold
Moving away from the traditional single wedding cake, a small ornate gold wedding cake acted as the centerpiece to Layers Cake Company dessert table. Petite black cakes added a bit of dramatic contrast to the dessert table. What could be more stunning than black ganache cakes with edible gold glitter?

Chic Rustic Elements
Autumn offers florist the opportunity to move away from blush, ivory, and other light tones and to work with some lush and vivacious color. Studio Stem implemented those soft light blooms of the warmer season for the bridal bouquet, but layered in the contrast of stronger colors like pinks, reds, and greens. Elegant large blooms of the dahlia in both the blush and a strong bold red were used to create a big bloom focus. The mood and the feeling of the ranch is embraced by a few rustic elements like the maiden hair fern, viburnum berry, smilax vine, and a touch of gold with the magnolia leaf wrapped in an antique gold satin.

Four-Legged Bridal Party
What equestrian wedding inspiration is complete without the addition of a gorgeous pure bread horse? Joining the bridal entourage, Studio Stem created a custom smilax vine necklace with an off set cluster of dahlias, spray roses, and ranucs to adorn this beautiful creature with a few extra blooms beautifying the stallion’s long tail.

Rustic Glam Bridal Style
The bride wore Junko Yoshioka’s “Michelle” mermaid gown from Avenia Bridal. Ivory cotton and silk twill fabric gives this gown the thickness and structure that is perfect for fall! We love the unique fluted bodice detail and flounced train that adds softness to the opulent fabric and design. The mix of textures is a big trend and simply stunning for today’s bride. Washington Millinery ivory gloves added elegance and sophistication reminiscent of the Kentucky Derby style. They come just below the elbow for a lady-like, but not overdone look. Signature Brides started with long soft curls down the back for the bridal hair, gradually making them tighter toward her fringe. The front was brushed out to give a soft wave. A wide braid around the back of the hairstyle swept the curls to one side, pinning the center of the curls up to create the illusion of less length in the front to accentuate the bride’s neckline and the top of the dress. Richards Design headband is perfect for the bride deciding between a veil or unique hairpiece; it has a birdcage veil as well as a floral/feathered fascinator accented with horsehair bands. Signature Brides used soft colors for the eyes using shades of gold and pink with dark browns in the corners and a touch of black in the crease for definition. Bold red lipstick and black mascara with individual false lashes completed this subtle yet glamorous equestrian look. Standing beside the gorgeous bride, the groom wore a Genesis fitted tuxedo from Mr. Mac with an “O” button, single-breasted styling and side-vented back. Tailored in soft, luxurious Super 100’s wool that featured a satin notch lapel and satin double besom pockets. The bride’s ring was 18K white and rose gold two tone by Makur Designs from Goldsmith Jewelers with a show-stopping 1.26-carat pink emerald in the center surrounded by .49-carat total weight in diamonds. The groom’s ring is 14K white and rose gold two-tone men’s wedding band. A rare rose pearl necklace where each pearl was handpicked and matched was wrapped around the bride’s wrist to create a layered bracelet look.

Leather and Lace
A rough horse head sketched out during the evening hours in Ann Elizabeth Custom Graphic Design & Printing Studio’s “Leather and Lace” notepad was the first step toward the inspiration of the paper suite. The rich and decadent touch of leather is how the leather strands that wrap around the main invitation became part of the design. The leather square over the leather strands was the perfect opportunity to introduce the horse head monogram for the set. Lace layers on the invitation softened the leather and give the piece balance between hard and soft elements. The menu featured all of the best matching details. A small piece of the leather strand and a band of lace lay across the menu top. Consistency and attention to details all the way through a bride’s paper suite, from save the date to the wedding date, are personal touches guests notice.
Equestrian Wedding Dream
To capture all the beauty of this equestrian wedding dream, Ryan Hinman Films was on hand to bring the day into motion. Bravo, everyone! We are more than inspired.

Repost from Urban Style Blog: A Bright Vintage Utah Wedding!

By

We were so thrilled to hear that Urban Style Blog featured this FABULOUSLY fun, vintage wedding on their blog!  Brimming with handmade details, beautiful details, and pure L-O-V-E, it is one of our all time favorites!  Plus, it has a great industrial vibe that is looking to be the next big trend for wedding locales!  Check it out! Pepper Nix Photography sent us these photos of Mark and Gaea’s fun, funky Salt Lake City wedding! The couple not only planned a lovely vintage-inspired ceremony, but designed their own invitations and made all the wedding favors, including some amazing Scrabble-inspired name plates! Read on for more details about this super cool wedding, from the bride herself.
From the Bride, Gaea:
“Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with vintage style, and inspired by vintage magazines and old movies. So when it came to my wedding, there was no shortage of vintage notions, especially where my bridal attire was concerned. My gown was a stunning silk organza dress with pockets, which turned out to be one of the best accessories I could ask for at my wedding! I had pin curls in my hair and wore simple classic makeup.  My goal was to achieve a vintage feel and keep everything iconic, beautiful and timeless.”
“We held our wedding at Pierpont Place in downtown Salt Lake City. I loved the empty industrial style of this space. It allowed my imagination to run wild! Both of my parents walked me down the aisle, and my dad officiated our ceremony. I loved having them by my side as we walked toward my handsome groom. They are a huge support in life and have taught me so many beautiful lessons about love and marriage (married 46 years in 2014!).  My favorite part of the ceremony was listening to Mark read his vows to me, and watching him as I read my vows to him. It was amazing how everyone else disappeared, and it felt like just the two of us in the room.”
“Most of the wedding details were arranged by me, and I made absolutely as much as possible by hand. Our wedding favors were  handmade vintage game-letter name plates, and Mark’s favorite vintage candy (lemon-flavored Chowards).  We also gave everyone two CDs created by us, one called “Our Wild Side” and one “Our Soft Side”, full of music that matched the mood of each title. The place settings looked gorgeous with our custom name plates, favors, and food menus welcoming guests to their tables! We had stations serving mini versions of comfort foods for dinner, and had a dessert bar filled with yummy treats, including pumpkin pies, milk shakes and doughnut holes. Because we had many so different desserts, our cake was a very simple white round with no frills. (We just wanted something to cut!) As a cake-topper, I hand-stitched paper birds with an E.E.Cummings poem printed on them. Those birds started a collection for us, and little love birds are slowly filling our house now!”
“I wanted our decor to be simple and full of fun! Mark collects concert posters, so I found a designer on Etsy who created a poster-style invitation suite based on a sketch drawn by us. For the reception we had our invitations re-printed as 11×14 concert posters, and placed them on the walls around the dance floor. We also brought several vintage items from our home to use throughout the space for accents, including a huge chandelier I proudly made using a vintage foot-stool frame and 5,000 Christmas lights! I was surprised with a gift from my brother-in-law, who custom rebuilt an arcade, full of vintage 80s video games, for our reception! The arcade and our photo booth quickly became the favorite items of the party! It was a gorgeous fun night full of laughter and love, and it exceeded all of my expectations.”
Congratulations to Gaea and Mark on their wedded bliss, and thank you to Pepper for sharing their fun vintage wedding with us!

Great Gasby Inspiration | Trendy Tuesday

By

Yesterday marked the end of the New York Bridal week and I have to say, designers, you never disappoint!  From splashes of color, to gorgeous textures, to classic beauty, there was a stunner for every conceivable bride.  My newest favorite trend, however, has to be The Great Gatsby!  I have always been a sucker for the 1920s era, I mean, how could you not be?  Sumptuous fabric, gold accents, decadent decor, and the highest of posh fashion - it really is a recipe for grandeur.  With that in mind, I couldn't help but create a Gatsby inspiration board all built around the GORGEOUS Esmé gown that Jenny Packham released for 2013.  Seriously.  SO. Beautiful.  (Oh and did I mention that you can find the Esmé at one of our favorite vendors, Alta Moda Bridal?  Just sayin'.)  Enjoy! Hope Gala Cold Menu | Trendy Tuesday

By

This weekend was one of those times when spring was making its sunshine filled warmth really known and I am so excited for the upcoming summer of sunny days and warm nights - not to mention AMAZING events!  This past year, we were lucky to be able to participate in The Hope Gala which is a wonderful foundation that raises money for The American Cancer Society.  This event was specifically geared this year to promote and reveal the plans for the new Hope Lodge!  It was actually held at the future site of this new facility which will provide a "Home Away from Home" for cancer patients and their families - which is such a welcome service in our city.  For this event, we pulled out all the stops!  And because of the balmy temperatures, we treated the fundraiser's guests with an "All Cold" menu from start to finish - keeping them delighting over the delicious dishes, while keeping them cool too!  Check it out! What a beautiful site to host the new Hope Lodge in downtown Salt Lake City! We love the simple elegance of the florals that adorn the tables.  Always chic and beautiful! Guests were greeted with a virtual smorgasbord of hors d'oeuvres!  Nothing like variety to get the night started and the guest excited for what's to come! The guests started their dinner with this GORGEOUS salad and artisan breads.  SO YUMMY! The dessert (my favorite part!) was this beauty!  A perfect cold treat to end a perfect night! Thank you so much to the American Cancer Society for letting us to continue to be a part of The Hope Gala.  We so enjoy helping this worthwhile fundraiser and love the new and inventive menus we come up with every year!  Happy eating everyone! 2013 Trend Report: Gold N Glam! | Trendy Tuesday

By

Re-posted with permission from Bride Access Culinary Crafts, wedding catering | BrideAccess 2013 Trend Report: One of the newest trends is definitely the "Gold 'n Glam" feel that harkens back to the classic novel, "The Great Gatsby" - even more so with all eyes on the upcoming film set to release soon!  This trend is all about luxe fabrics, decadent details, and liberal use of gold!  We are loving that gold is back in and the Gatsby trend is making full use of its beauty in a big way!  This trend is for the most glamorous of brides or hosts who are wanting to create a feel of everlasting elegance, pure sophistication, and an air of grandeur - so you know I love it!  We at Culinary Crafts love to carry this theme not only from decor but into the food as well!  For this inspiration shoot we envisioned the guests being greeted by an impeccably dressed waiter who would serve them Oysters on the Half Shelf topped with Black Sturgeon Caviar and chilled Champagne.  From there, the guests were asked to be seated for the plated dinner service which started with the fresh flavors of unadorned lump crab and bell pepper duxelle combine with a bite of heirloom cherry tomato to start and followed with a rich and decadent Butternut Squash soup.  To finish the meal, we carry the gold onto the dessert offerings with edible gold-leaf atop the petite black ganache cakes and a gorgeous golden wedding cake with fabulous detailing.  A perfectly gorgeous and truly glamorous event from start to finish!

European Street Market Wedding | Trendy Tuesday

By

Today, we have a totally different kind of wedding to show you!  This beautiful backyard wedding was a first for Culinary Crafts - which after decades in the industry is saying something! The blushing bride, Maria, had spent several years of her young life living in Europe with her family and she really wanted her wedding to be an experience for every guest that harkened back to that setting.  Her wish was that we would create a feeling of the European lifestyle so it was like their family and friends had taken a trip there with the happy couple - and we were totally excited to help her with that!  It was decided that the backyard would be transformed into a series of European street market stands with an authentic fresh fruit and vegetable stand, a deli market sandwich stand, an apple beer and brat stand, a pomme frites stand, flaming crepe Suzette action stand, Italian gelato cart, and French macaron favors!  So amazing!  Take a look! The casual and low-key feeling of strolling the markets were definitely carried throughout the event, especially with the blue gingham table linens and fresh flowers that you definitely would see being sold admist the food vendors in Europe.  We loved the laid back and easy beauty of this wedding! The happy couple chose to create really handmade, whimsical signage that had a truly European flair.  We also loved the bride's simple floral headdress. So delicate and pretty! To further create the sense of the streets of Europe, these street signs were created directing guest to the food "vendors"!  SO cute.  We also collected fruit and vegetable boxes to display the crudite and fruits so it looked like a true fruit and vegetable stand! The deli market stand served freshly made sandwiches that our staff prepared in front of the guests.  My favorite?  The Italian Sausage and Salami baguette with fresh basil and tomato.  YUM!!! Isn't this signage fun?  We loved the grab and go pomme frites stand too. The German Brat stand served up Apple Beer and Brats plus any topping you could dream of. Definitely a crowd favorite! Their cake was simply adorned with fresh berries and we LOVED the impact it made.  The ripened berries looked stunning against the white buttercream.  Simple and GORGEOUS.  And it that wasn't enough, the guests also had Italian Gelato, Flaming crepe Suzette, and French Macarons to sait their sweet tooth! This wedding was truly one-of-a-kind!  We were so happy to have been able to create this experience for such a lovely couple and charming family!  Remember, creating an event that is truly about you and your husband to be is always the best way to have a memorable event.  Whether you focus on a life-changing experience, a shared passion, or just fill it with the people and things that you love, you'll always have an AMAZING wedding day because it shows the love between you and your beloved.  Happy planning everyone!
