New Downtown Salt Lake City Venue: Church & State

By

As I'm sure you know, Culinary Crafts is always on the lookout for new, interesting, and gorgeous venues.  When we found out about Church & State in downtown Salt Lake City, well, I can say we were thrilled!  Originally constructed in 1893 (which means it dates back to even before Utah was granted its statehood), this venue was recently renovated from a church to a breathtaking 3,500 sqft space that is perfect for any event!  It boasts traditional styling with touches of modern, industrial design elements and an AMAZING floor to ceiling Mondrian-style stained glass window.  Such a unique and versatile space, we couldn't wait to host Brianna & Dylan's wedding here!  Thanks to Kelli Bramble for the beautiful photos!  Check it out! The couple was looking for a venue that could transition from their wedding ceremony to their reception in the same space. With a guest list of about 100, they needed a larger venue with multiple spaces for each part of their day.  Well, Church & State was just the ticket and it had just the right mix of natural and industrial elements to fit the couple's style!  Isn't it stunning? Their ceremony took place upstairs and then transitioned into the cocktail hour with lounge furniture and cocktail tables so the guests could mix and mingle with each other.  We love how light and bright this space was! Of course, we served delicious bites during cocktail hour.  The guests were served butler-passed hors d’oeuvres of Carolina Style BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders and Mozzarella Salata Skewers with Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Basil, and Balsamic Drizzle.  So good! The couple chose a sophisticated color palette of black, white, and gold for their reception dinner which allowed this venue's unique beauty to shine through!  We love how the palette tied into the space so perfectly.  So pretty! We love to pre-set elements of the menu on the tables to engage the guests and get them excited for the food to come!  So, for this event, we plated our House-Made Artisan Rolls with Paddle of Sea Salted Butter.  Yummy! The guests were welcomed to the main level for a fantastic buffet dinner and the sounds of Pixie & the Partygrass Boys provided the perfect background music! The buffet was a collection of some of our signature favorites!  Like our Arugula, Pear, and Goat Cheese Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette and our Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Sage Butter, which is AMAZING! We loved the multiple levels of serving dishes in the buffet because it added so much visual interest!  Another menu offering?  Our Roasted Fingerling Potatoes! We rounded out the menu with our Green Beans Almondine and Lemon Herb Chicken!  What an elegant feast!!! Isn't Church & State gorgeous?  We love it and hope it inspires all of you planning your own events to check it out (and other new venues) to find a unique space that fits your style perfectly!  Happy planning, everyone!
