The most romantic and dramatic moment of a wedding - the heart-stopper and tear-starter - is, of course, the first glimpse of the bride walking down the aisle. But there is another moment of drama that comes when guests arrive at the reception. Table numbers, menu cards, and place cards have a practical function as signposts, but they can also be handsome, whimsical, and even edible. It is acceptable to be traditional or completely original when designing them. As the song says, "the sentimental things apply" - but so do the aesthetics. Every wedding is a series of visual experiences and while many of them feature the bride and groom, dining tables in particular are designed for the guests' comfort and pleasure. Most of all, when decorating the reception, a good host is sure that all the guests feel as though they are sitting at the most interesting table at the party. Four ideas for place cards and table numbers: paper, edible, personalized and thematic. Here are some images of ideas that fall into these categories.
