NAMES Katie McBride and Nick Lavidge LIVE IN Sydney, Australia, but they’re both from the US OCCUPATIONS She is a yoga teacher; he works in e-commerce WHERE THEY MET At an art show in Newport Beach, California; it was love at first sight WHERE HE PROPOSED At his family’s lake house NUMBER OF GUESTS 135 WEDDING TIME 4 p.m. WEDDING THEME Rustic chic with a focus on nature FAMILY ELEMENT To honor both their parents’ 30-plus-year marriages, they included them in the ceremony: the bride’s parents handed her the groom’s ring before she placed it on his finger and vice versa. AUSTRALIAN STYLE As a nod to their life down under, the bride wore a gossamer gown by an Aussie designer, and the florist used native eucalyptus in the altar and flower arrangements. During dinner, their moms read telegrams sent by loved ones who weren’t able to attend, per Australian tradition. RECEPTION MENU An artisan cheese station and mason jars of lavender- and ginger-infused lemonade greeted guests. Butler-passed hors d’oeuvres included mango shrimp lollipops and seared pork belly with gorgonzola, pine nuts, and garlic-seared kale on bruschetta. For the dinner buffet, they served mesquite-grilled trout with Moroccan tomato jam, grilled flank steak carved at the buffet and served with house chimichurri sauce, grilled seasonal veggies tossed with pesto and served with hummus, quinoa salad, mac and cheese with butter-crusted Panko breadcrumbs drizzled with white truffle oil, roasted cauliflower salad, and house-made artisan breads with sea-salt butter blocks. DESSERT Deconstructed Dutch apple and lemon meringue pies in individual mason jars; s’mores bar with homemade marshmallows; candy bar with to-go bags for favors; and local ice cream with waffle cones, including wedding-cake flavor, served from a vintage ice-cream truck FUN & GAMES They set up a cigar and whiskey bar and cornhole beanbag toss for guests. THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Perfect, fun, unforgettable HONEYMOON Italy, France, and Greece
“We love Utah and the mountains, so we let the beauty of our ranch venue inspire most of our decisions.”
