La Nay Ferme Partnership | Monday Musings

First off, Happy Earth Day! We love the Earth in all its beauty, and I have to say, it’s a perfect day to post about our newest vendor partner! We here at Culinary Crafts have often made mention of our LOVE of using local, fresh, high quality products that enhance our food, better our community, and grow our local economy.  Today, I am proud to share with you our newest partnership that Culinary Crafts’s has found, La Nay FermeLa Nay Ferme is a farm located in Provo, Utah that is completely focused on cultivating naturally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as creating a return to locally sourced produce in their community – which we are super excited about!  We know our food will be much better off because of the good work of La Nay Ferme, but you can have that goodness at your home too!  La Nay Ferme allows you to join their CSA (community supported agriculture) that gives you a share of their seasonal produce for 1 week, 4 weeks, or 12 weeks – which you can set up on their website – or they also have a market option where you can buy as you need and pick it up at the farm.  How awesome is that?!  We are so thrilled to have them as a new partner and are excited to see what they accomplish!  You can also check out a little more on La Nay Ferme and what their vision in this video.  Happy eating everyone!

Beautiful Ranch Wedding | Monday Musings

Good News! | Monday Musings

We are so thrilled to announce that one of Culinary Crafts’s dessert creations was featured as the cover image on Catersource Magazine!!!!  This dessert, which we made for The Art of Catering Food Conference this past summer, was a GORGEOUS marjolaine that we can’t wait to incorporate into our upcoming holiday and wedding menus!  The recipe is even featured on Catersource‘s website this month!  How cool is that?  Check out the other places I spied Culinary Crafts throughout the magazine!

A Very Special Birthday Party | Monday Musings

Today, I’d like to share a very special birthday we at Culinary Crafts had the pleasure of working on recently.  Bill Marriott’s 80th birthday was an event that BYU, home of the Marriot School of Business (yes, named for Bill Marriott), wanted to celebrate in style – and in style it was!  From the custom cake Culinary Crafts created (yes that stack of gorgeously fashioned books is ACTUALLY the birthday cake!) to the gatherings of students across three tiers that assembled to serenade the birthday boy to the menu of comfort classics – this event was so much fun and a great way to honor a great man!  Check it out!

When asked, Bill told Mary that his favorite foods were cold cuts, potato salad, green salad, and carrot cake – quite a stretch from the usual fare Culinary Crafts creates!  In the end though, we were able to make a beautiful menu that was delicious and true to the guest of honor’s favorites!  We were so honored to be a party of this very special day.  And best wishes to Bill Marriott!  Happy 80th!

The Chef’s Table Event | Monday Musings

Today, I’d like to share an AMAZING event we held recently at The Tasting Room – our SMASHING new venue/downtown SL offices, if you hadn’t heard.  🙂  This event was chock full with gourmet food, learned chefs, foodies, and good conversation, not to mention it was a beautiful event!  Here’s a little bit about the event from Kaleb Crafts, “[The Chef’s Table] was a 7 course educational chef’s dinner.  The chefs were right there, table side, discussing the food, showing techniques and plating, and serving the meal for the guests.  Guests were enthralled as they learned about everything from the importance of local products to how to extract your own vanilla – we even took them on the back patio for a grilling class for the fish course!  Each course had its own bread pairing made fresh from our in house bakery and also had its own wine pairing!  We had our sommelier on site to educate and talk about the pairings he had made – nothing like an $80 bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet to make the bison tenderloin go down smooth!  Whether you are looking to wine and dine your guests, or just looking for fabulous dinner in the most intimate of settings, this is by far my new favorite way to dine!”

Yum!  I love being able to go and enjoy fantastic food, and then go home and replicate the techniques in my own kitchen!  Well worth it, in my opinion.  We loved this event and hope to host another Chef’s Table in the future because it was so much fun!  Happy cooking everyone!

The Speed Gala | Trendy Tuesday

Recently, the Speed exhibit opened at the Utah Museum of Fine Art and we at Culinary Crafts were honored to cater the opening Gala, which was a DEFINITE highlight for the Salt Lake social scene in 2012!  What is the Speed exhibit, you might ask?  Well, the UMFA describes it this way: “This special exhibition will explore the art of the automobile, featuring antique and vintage racing cars that exemplify the beauty of vehicles designed for speed. Artistry and engineering come together in these functional yet highly crafted works of art.”  So lovers of cars and lovers of art unite to enjoy this special showing of some of the most elite and expensive cars around – but the cars almost took second seat to the beautiful gowns, jewels, and finery that came out for it’s premier gala.  So, buckle up, hold tight, and take a look at the opening gala for Speed: The Art of the Performance Automobile!

The event began with a VIP reception complete with Oysters on the Half Shell, Foie Gras, and Caviar!  YUM!

The large shrimp & crab bar with a 3D ice sculpture was made in the image of the Duesenberg masterpiece car.  How cool is that?

The main event featured festive action stations such as the Smoked Pork Shoulder with Papaya and Tomato Relish station and Basil Chicken with Grilled Rainbow Peppers station.

Guests danced the night away to our flaming desserts, macaroons, and be-dazzled bonbons.  What a showstopping night!

A gorgeous Art Deco night full of fabulous food, stellar cars, and a breathtaking venue!  And, remember, the Speed exhibit will be at the UMFA until September 16th – and you don’t want to miss it!  Happy driving (and dreaming!) everyone!
