Napkin Round Up

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Holiday Parties, How To, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Wedding Trends

Weddings are all about details.  From the invitations, to the dress, and everything in between, details are the way that you as a couple can add your personality and style to this very special day.  One of my favorite, and often overlooked, ways to personalize your wedding is with your napkins.  You may be saying, “Huh?  A napkin is a napkin and just there to dab my face after digging in (maybe too enthusiastically) to that scrumptious food I’ve been hoping for since this morning!”  But, yes, napkins can have utility AND style!  Because of this, I’ve rounded up my favorite ways to dress up and showcase your napkins.  Check it out!

Awesome, right?  A napkin can be another detail that makes your guests stop and say “Wow!”  Remember that details are a fun and excellent way to make your event even more stunning!  Happy planning everyone!

Venue Love: Studio Elevn

By | Vendor Love!, Venues We Love

Utah is bursting with BEAUTIFUL outdoor venues and spaces.  It’s definitely a benefit of living in such a gorgeous place.  Often, however, we forget about the fabulous indoor venues we have here too!  One such place is Studio Elevn, located in downtown Salt Lake City.  It is definitely a Culinary Crafts favorite and perfect for events wanting a more urban chic feel.  Here’s a little bit about the space:

Studio Elevn is the perfect space to reflect your unique and creative vision. With 2,500 square feet of beautifully lit, modern-industrial space, your event or gathering is sure to awe all who attend. The New York-style loft studio is located in the heart of Salt Lake City making Studio Elevn ideal for private parties, galleries, wedding receptions, performances and more. Venue capacity is 80 seated or 200 for receptions.”

Check it out!

StudioElevn

Isn’t this space cool?  Love the industrial feel.

StudioElevn2

This space is also SO versatile – whether you want a vintage look, modern feel, or something high end couture, this is the space!

StudioElevn3

Love this minimalist event and the pops of gold are awesome.

StudioElevn4

Even a modern organic feel is just perfect here and I love that feature wall.  This space has so many possibilities!

StudioElevn5

This space is also great for corporate parties or brand launches.  It really lends itself to become a part of YOUR company’s look.

StudioElevn6

Doesn’t this space look romantic?  LOVE!

StudioElevn7

Lastly, I love the Studio Elevn ‘mission statement’.  It really is a space born out of love, inspiration, and creativity.  Such a great added bonus to any space.

Isn’t Studio Elevn great?  We think so!  And you should DEFINITELY check it out if you are wanting a beautiful space for any event in the Downtown Salt Lake City area.  Happy dreaming, everyone!

Venue Love: Washington School House Tour

By | Venues We Love

Recently, I was fortunate enough to tour the historic Washington School House Hotel in Park City, Utah – and, boy, was it GORGEOUS!  Lucky for you, I got photos from the tour and I can share the beauty and design amazing-ness that this hotel boasts!  Check it out!

angela-howard-park-city-hotel-cc

Nestled in the heart of downtown Park City, Utah, the Washington School House stands out with its pretty limestone facade and original architectural elements.  SO stunning!

angela-howard-park-city-hotel-cc2

Although the owners had the property’s designers keep the historic feel in mind, they also added a ton of modern and contemporary touches – like this elegant and stiking signage.  It blends perfectly, don’t you think?

Off to the side of the entryway is this FABULOUS dining room where they serve gourmet made-to-order breakfasts as well as mouth-watering apres-ski appetizers (included with your accommodations, of course) that are prepared by their private chef, Ernesto Rocha, who also happens to be the head chef at the critically acclaimed Zoom restaurant in Park City.  They also allow outside catering for private events and weddings and we here at Culinary Crafts are SO excited to offer catering for those intimate events!!!

Remember the made-to-order breakfast I mentioned earlier?  Well, we got to taste some of the breakfast offerings they have and it was DELICIOUS!  They also have fantastic pastry chef who made many to-die-for confections, but my favorite was a seriously AMAZING strawberry rhubarb coffee cake.  So yummy.

Now, onto the rest of t!  This room was my favorite with 16 foot ceilings and so much natural light.  Plus, check out the bathroom and that fantastic claw-footed tub!  Love it!

angela-howard-park-city-hotel-cc8

One of the other things I love about this hotel is their rooftop pool.  It was gorgeous and well-appointed, plus you can people-watch and feel like you are a part of the city while relaxin’ pool-side.

angela-howard-park-city-hotel-cc9

Lastly, they have this FANTASTIC lounge that would be perfect for private parties and events!  It is cozy and inviting and I LOVED the details!  Exposed beams? Check! White washed brick? Check!  Fabulous, yet comfy, furniture? Check!  A boutique with AWESOME gifties?  Check plus!

angela-howard-park-city-hotel-cc10

The Washington School House is such a gem and I LOVED every minute of the tour.  They have taken so much care to curate the art, furniture, and look of the place that you just feel extremely special having a stay there.  Plus, it would be AMAZING for a small wedding, private party, corporate event, and so much more!  They offer a ‘buy-out’ so you can get the hotel all to yourself and your guests – which I love for a wedding weekend or family holiday retreat!  Such a great addition to Park City and we can’t wait to see the fabulous events to be had there!  Happy dreaming, everyone!

Repost: Halloween Party Ideas

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning

Halloween is on our heels – and I wanted to re-post our Frighteningly Fabulous Halloween Menu and the Pumpkin Carving Party Ideas again for all of the festivities that are bound to be held this weekend!  Check it out!

HalloweenMenuHalloweenInspiration

Holly’s Tips for the perfect Halloween party:

“One of our favorite family traditions is our annual pumpkin carving party.  There is nothing better than a hand carved pumpkin – and with the plastic pumpkins available this tradition is going away, sadly.  One of the reasons, in my opinion, is getting the inside of the pumpkin cleaned is so hard!  Well, here’s a family tip: Kerr canning lids are the trick to the clean pumpkin.  The metal edge scrapes and clean like nothing else.  Another way I like to set the mood is with candles, candles and more candles. Candlelight instantly creates a mood which is perfect for a halloween party!  Especially if you add the light of your freshly carved pumpkins!  Another great, and inexpensive, idea is to use cheesecloth to decorate mantles, tables, porches, etc.  It’s fun and spooky with the look of spiderwebs but is a lot easier to use than the stringy, sticky spider web.  For this pumpkin carving party, I thought it would be great to create an autumal color palette that really played up the activity of the night, and was fun, yet pretty and perfect for guests of all ages!  Happy Halloween!”

Have fun everyone!  Happy weekend!

Vendor Spotlight: Metro Music Club

By | Vendor Spotlight

As wedding season ramps up, we are starting to get many brides asking for suggestions of great vendors to hire that we at Culinary Crafts LOVE working with.  Well, when it comes to music at the event, there are two distinct camps on the matter – live band or DJ?  It all comes down to personal preference, really.  But if you are looking for a live band – definitely check out Metro Music Club!  We love their energy and AMAZING talent they offer! We’ve been fans of Joslyn (one of the vocal powerhouses of MMC) for a LONG time. In fact, our very own Mary Crafts-Homer would have no other set of pipes but Joslyn’s at her son Kaleb Crafts’s wedding! She is seriously fabulous and we were blown away by Metro Music Club‘s promo video and think that they would be a great addition to any event!  Definitely check it out!  Happy listening everyone!

Chef’s Table Dinners | Wednesday Wisdom

By | Wednesday Wisdom

One of my newest FAVORITE trends for the upcoming year are the Chef’s Table dinners!  This experience is perfect for any event and really makes the meal part of the overall entertainment.  The chefs are right there, table side, discussing the food, showing techniques and plating, and serving the meal for the guests.  Guests are enthralled as they learned about everything from the importance of local products to how to extract your own vanilla. Whether you are looking to wine and dine your guests, or just looking for fabulous dinner in the most intimate of settings, this is by far my new favorite way to dine!  Check it out!

We loved this super chic and lovely event, plus the food was AMAZING!

Here Mary is letting the guests know about the meal they are about to watch Culinary Crafts’s staff prepare in front of them!

The staff plated and prepared each guests’s plate, making sure they all looked FABULOUS!

Ryan even torched the Bistecca for the entree in front of everyone which was a definite thrill.  The flame thrower is always a crowd favorite!

The ever talented Ryan doubles up on torches to bake the green beans with a parmesan cheese garnish.  SO YUMMY!

This event was held at our venue, The Tasting Room, in downtown Salt Lake City!  We loved the rustic chic look of the event!

Guests were greeted with these rack of lamb appetizers, a sommelier who educated the guests on wine pairings, and Culinary Crafts’s staff preparing the menu’s offerings.  So fun!

This event even featured Culinary Crafts’s chefs leading a cooking demonstration on the proper way to grill this GORGEOUS Utah trout.  Yum!  I love being able to go and enjoy fantastic food and then go home and replicate the techniques in my own kitchen!  Well worth it, in my opinion.

We love that these Chef’s Table events are popping up in our future events and really think that they are a great way to serve our delicious food.  At Culinary Crafts, we consider ourselves lucky to have the creme de la creme of staff members who can be out on the forefront of an event and serve in style!  Happy cooking everyone!
