Simply Gorgeous Fall Red Cliff Ranch Wedding!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Tips, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Everyone here at Culinary Crafts is getting excited for fall!  I mean, how could you not?  Believe me, we love summer, but there’s always a welcome feeling for the change of season and we are loving it!  This gorgeous wedding is a perfect fall showstopper at one of our favorite venues, Red Cliff Ranch – and it happens to be the couple’s wedding anniversary this weekend too!  Pretty perfect, right?  We also love this wedding because this bride was on a pretty tight budget, but it was still a STUNNING wedding with delicious Culinary Crafts food!  Now, check out this beautiful fall Red Cliff Ranch wedding!

Oh, Red Cliff Ranch, even your entrance is beautiful.  And isn’t that fall color amazing?!

I love all of the horses on the property and they are so friendly!  It’s such a great part of getting married at Red Cliff Ranch!

How pretty is this bouquet?  Great inspiration for a beautiful bouquet that is perfect for a fall wedding without getting too crazy.  Simple and gorgeous!

The beautiful bride and groom.  We love the bride’s fun cowboy boots and the groom’s snazzy vest was perfect for this fall fete!

This meadow at Red Cliff Ranch is easily one of our FAVORITE ceremony spots.  The couple kept their casual, rustic vibe by having guests sit on hay bales and the addition of a simple wooden ceremony arch decorated with more pretty sunflowers was so beautiful!

Who says simple can’t be stunning?  The tablescape was so pretty, but kept the decor minimal.  We absolutely LOVED how it turned out!

For cocktail hour we offered these beautiful Artisan Cheese Platters with local cheese and honey and a variety of fruits and crackers.  Such an easy way to add a special touch to cocktail hour!

The guests loved this light snack that allowed them to mix and mingle.  Plus, how cute are those little Bamboo bowls!

We made sure the guests had something fabulous to drink and we loved offering our infused waters in these rustic water vessels.  So fun!

To keep with the rustic, laid back vibe of this wedding, we served a delicious buffet with all the fixin’s to make yummy Pulled Pork Sandwiches!  Easily, one of my favorite low-key offerings!

Of course, we made sure to add amazing sides to the buffet like our Roasted Vegetable Salad and our Coleslaw!  So good!

The couple gave their guests these cute favors with a sweet treat and we loved how fun these little boxes were.

Another gorgeous pic of this couple!  Love!

For the reception party, we loved this lounge area and it was perfect for the style of the day!

How fun are these Polaroids?  A perfect way to end this post for this amazing wedding day.  And happy anniversary to Ari and Derek!  We loved this wedding day and love how it can inspire any couple on any budget to make their wedding day amazingly gorgeous!  Happy planning, everyone!

Mary’s Advice for Brides

By | Culinary Crafts Events

Dear Bride,

Mary Crafts here. I’ve seen more weddings than I can count, I know the ins and outs, the ups and downs, and I feel qualified to offer you some advice.

Last year, our bride Chelsea had her beautiful wedding celebration at Red Cliff Ranch in Heber, UT. This gorgeous ranch was the same place that I held my wedding just five years earlier. I fell in love with this darling bride and her mother from our first meeting in our office.

Over the next few months, we worked together to plan out the details of her special day. Chelsea already had the fabulous David Newkirk reserved for her photographer, and I suggested some of my favorite vendors for the Ranch: Kale Fitch as videographer, Gold Standard as the music, and Josh from 5 Penney Floral to add the perfect little accents that turn the ranch into a romantic wedding location. We also created a wonderful menu for the night. From the dinner, to the cake, to the late night snack! This wedding was sure to be a big, perfect, beautiful success.

Eventually, the big day arrived. Chelsea was giddy and excited to finally marry her sweetheart, Walker, and she anticipated the day would go exactly as dreamed. However, it wasn’t long until Chelsea ran into a problem: the officiate was late.

After waiting 45 minutes for his arrival, we discovered that the officiate (a close friend of Chelsea’s fathers’s) had gotten confused and was still two hours away! Although the guests were tired and restless, Chelsea’s father insisted on waiting for him. The ceremony would start three hours late.

So, what was there to do? After months of planning, it all came down to one small mistake and the whole evening could be tainted! One thing that I told Chelsea in this moment, and one thing that I will tell you, is that things hardly go as planned. But, if you think on your feet, and prepare to be flexible, everything will work out. Just because it doesn’t go as planned it doesn’t mean it won’t go perfectly.

I had an idea, and Chelsea was so willing and ready to try it out.

In front of the crowd of tired guests I pulled up a chair and stood on top.

“Excuse me!”

Heads turned.

“Now, I’ve got some good news, and I’ve got some bad news. The bad news is, the officiate is still two hours away and we’ve determined to wait for him.”

Groans.

“The good news is, we are opening the bar and starting the passed hors d’oeuvres!”

Cheers!

Guests had a delightful time switching the cocktail hour to before the ceremony and moved into dinner following the ceremony. Here’s what Chelsea recently wrote to me about it:

“Not a moment goes by that I don’t think about perfect my wedding day was, but what I remember are the incredible people that made it happen… So many people have shared with us how impressed they were with your ability and flexibility to adjust the cocktail hour with our officiant being late. They loved eating and drinking beforehand and socializing/catching up before the ceremony. Your kindness, sincerity, creativity, energy, and love has forever been imprinted on my heart.”

Chelsea was able to roll with the punches and it turned what seemed at the time like serious issue, into one of her favorite memories at her wedding.

Romantic, Organic Red Cliff Ranch Wedding

By | Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today, I have a GORGEOUS wedding to share with you – and, since we are approaching Memorial Day weekend – it boasts a fabulous menu that can easily inspire your weekend get togethers!  This was such a beautiful event and the food was so fun as well as delicious (of course)!  We loved the couple’s choice to serve some classic summer BBQ favorites, as well as some surprises.  Thank you to Kate Benson for the fabulous photographs!  Check it out!

Red Cliff Ranch is one of our favorite venues!  We always love hosting events there.

How pretty is this tablescape?!  We love the pink glassware that adds a touch of romance to the rustic table and the organic feel of the garland runner.  So pretty!

How cute are these horse favors?  Each guest was welcomed to their seat with one of these cuties.  Love all of the small details at this event!

Of course, we make sure that all of the guests have some fabulous beverage options – and this event was no exception!  We served fresh fruit infused waters (always a crowd favorite) as well as Mojitos!  We love the aspen bark paper straws in the Mojitos as well.  Such a great touch!

To tie in with the casual feel of this event, the couple chose to host a grand buffet – and, boy, was it delicious.  Guests got a front row seat to the yummy eats and we loved seeing how excited they were to dig in!

This menu is chock full of BBQ inspiration!  Case in point, our entrees were grilled on site and would be perfect at any event.  We served our Grilled Salmon Filet with Lemon Slices and Caper Sauce and our Mesquite-Grilled Flank Steak with Chimichurri Sauce – YUM!

Another grilled dish?  Our Mesquite-Grilled Summer Vegetables.  Plus, our Caprese Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Local Mozzarella Cheese, and a Balsamic Glaze was a perfect addition to this summer-y menu!

Another classic dish?  Mary’s Macaroni & Cheese, which is always a star side dish!

Of course, we didn’t stop at the grand buffet.  We also hosted a Mashed Potato Bar action station where guests could create over-the-top mashed potatoes.  Such a fun way to entertain your guests and a great alternative to the  sliders and fries bars that it seems that are everywhere these days.  This is definitely a way to make your event unique!  Love it.

What a beautiful night and the guests were loving this fun menu!

Isn’t the bride so beautiful?  Such a doll!  Mary always has such a great connection with our clients and it really shows – especially when Culinary Crafts is there to make their event even more perfect!

We didn’t forget dessert – I know you were wondering…  😉  For this menu, our Fresh Fruit Cobbler action station was PERFECT!  We hand scooped Culinary Crafts’ House Made Vanilla Bean Gelato on our cobblers – we served 3, yes 3, different kinds!

Our peach, berry, and apple cobblers were SOOOOO good.  You definitely had to have one of each!

Isn’t the station set up pretty too?  We love adding simple touches that really add something extra to all of our stations.  To tie in the rustic feel of this event, we simply added wood stump slices which added visual interest AND pretty details!

The couple chose to have a Gourmet Popcorn Bar for their favors where guests could choose from 3 flavors – plus they custom made cute little bags for the guests to take home their treats!  The bride and groom each chose their own personal favorite and then the third flavor was their combined favorite – so fun!  ‘His’ was a Chili Lime popcorn, ‘Hers’ was a Cookies & Cream popcorn, and the ‘Ours’ flavor was the Bacon Bourbon Caramel popcorn (a personal favorite!)  YUM!

Last but not least, no ranch wedding would be complete without a S’mores Bar!  So, of course, we served this classic take with our House Made marshmallows!

This wedding was so beautiful and we loved the fun menu we were able to create!  We hope that this inspires you to create some fun BBQ menus of your own for Memorial Day weekend!  Happy planning, everyone!

CC_Laura&Charley2

And, talk about beauty!  How about this lace detail on the bride’s gown??  Plus, didn’t Artisan Bloom create a picture perfect bouquet?  LOVE!

CC_Laura&Charley3

One of our favorite parts of Red Cliff Ranch is this meadow with the red cliffs (for which is was named) that tower behind the ceremony site.  Such a breathtaking backdrop!

CC_Laura&Charley4

Of course, on this warm summer day, we made sure the guests had a great place to hang out during cocktail hour.  We served beverages and hors d’oeuvres that kept the guests mingling and happy until dinner was served.

CC_Laura&Charley5

Pulled Pork Sliders and  Prociutto Wrapped Utah Peaches were just a couple of the delicious bites our awesome team butler passed to guests!  So yummy!

CC_Laura&Charley6

We also created this AMAZING cheese board with local honey comb!  Such a hit!

CC_Laura&Charley7

Isn’t this reception space BEAUTIFUL?!  FUSE Weddings & Events never disappoints!  And those florals by Artisan Bloom?  Gorgeous!

CC_Laura&Charley8

A simple, yet elegant, place setting was the perfect addition to this romantic table.  Plus, we love the added touch of Karli Noel‘s handdrawn calligraphy that let guests know where their seat was!

CC_Laura&Charley9

CC_Laura&Charley10

The couple chose to serve the dinner ‘family-style’ which, as you know, Culinary Crafts loves!  We started with Artisan Breads like Black Peppercorn Cheddar, Beer Bread, and Corn Muffins with Utah Sea Salt Crusted Creamery Butters.  We also served Roasted Beet Salad with Snuck Farms Fresh Greens, Goat Cheese, Utah Pistachios & Citrus Honey Vinaigrette; Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Olive Oil, Cracked Pepper, and Sea Salt; Mesquite-Grilled Utah Red Trout with Tomato, Basil and Ricotta Risotto; Chicken Paillard with Napa Salad, Daikon, Mango and Mint; and finally Grilled Skirt Steak Cumin-Coriander Mushrooms, and Parsley Sauce.  SOOO good!

CC_Laura&Charley11

CC_Laura&Charley12

To follow up that AMAZING dinner, of course we had to create a decadent dessert bar – just like this one!

CC_Laura&Charley13

Chocolate Pot de Creme with Vanilla Whipped Cream and Mason Jar Berry Cobblers with Fresh Whipped Cream?  Yes, please!

CC_Laura&Charley14

Plus, House Made Gelato?  You bet!

CC_Laura&Charley15

We also made some ‘late-night’ snacks like these Mini Grilled Cheese Bites!  The guests LOVED them!

CC_Laura&Charley16

And, you can’t have a ranch wedding without an AMAZING s’mores bar, just like this one!  The guests always have so much fun making these treats by the fire!

This was SUCH a fun wedding and we are so grateful to all of the amazing vendors who made this day such a gorgeous one!  I hope this inspires you to plan some dreamy ranch weddings, everyone!  Happy planning!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Sharing the Love -Vendor and Client Relationships, Vendor Love!, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

We hope you enjoyed Culinary Crafts’s casual BBQ event we posted last week, but for all you brides in the midst of planning and thinking that a BBQ maybe isn’t as elegant as you’d like for your wedding, I’m here to say – hold on just a second!  Take a look at this wedding – it was so pretty and elegant and the BBQ inspired food was the perfect accent for the rustic ranch nuptials.  Perfectly captured by Pepper Nix Photography, I think you’ll be inspired to give a BBQ style menu a chance.  Check it out!

BBQ_MannPolistina

Let’s start off this post with this pic of PURE JOY!  We love this couple’s effortless style – such a perfect blend of rustic and polished.

BBQ_MannPolistina2

BBQ_MannPolistina3

Isn’t Red Cliff Ranch stunning?  We LOVE this venue and it was perfect for this casual, yet elegant, wedding!

BBQ_MannPolistina4

Although this was kind of a rainy day, the guests still enjoyed some fun games like Cornhole and Horseshoes.  Who says you can’t have fun in the rain?  Plus, aren’t the beanbags great!?  I love that the couple added their wedding monogram to add a special touch!

BBQ_MannPolistina5

This rustic bar is amazing.  And we LOVE the mason jar that held the fun blue signature drink that the couple picked too!

BBQ_MannPolistina6

How about these appetizers?  Yum!  Such a great variety from the Mini Cordon Bleu to the Short Rib Stuffed Mushrooms and the Pork Belly Bruschetta, there was something for every palette!

BBQ_MannPolistina7

This long dining table was SO pretty and I love how everyone mingles throughout the meal!  Plus, aren’t the florals from Scenemakers GORGEOUS?!  And, the hand painted signs were a great way to inform the guests where to go and add some style to the event!

BBQ_MannPolistina10

What a way to start the meal!  Spinach Romaine Salad with Asian Pears, Gorgonzola, Dried Cranberries, Candied Pecans, and Carmelized Onion Balsamic Dressing.  YUMMY!

BBQ_MannPolistina8

A double entree plated dinner is SO fabulous and such a great way to offer your guests a taste of each option for dinner!  This plate had our Mesquite Grilled Rocky Mountain Trout with Moroccan Tomato Jam and Pan Seared Filet of Beef Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom Chasseur Sauce.  Pair that with Potatoes Dauphine and Bundles of Fresh Roasted Green Beans, and you’ve got yourself a perfect plate!

BBQ_MannPolistina9

I think everyone is enjoying a great meal, don’t you think?  🙂

BBQ_MannPolistina12

Now, the dessert!  We served three different kinds of cake pops, and aren’t they pretty?  Such a great sweet taste of something sweet without having to commit to a big piece of cake if they are full from dinner – or if they want to try them all!

BBQ_MannPolistina13

Aren’t a cake (or cake pop) fan?  Well, we also had a custom popcorn bar for guests with different flavors of gourmet popcorn!  Delicious!

BBQ_MannPolistina11

Another great food-centric detail from this wedding?  The couple chose to give their friends and family gifts of local Cox Honeyland Mountain Honey and little treats.  So fun!

BBQ_MannPolistina14

We love the way that Red Cliff Ranch’s corral lights up at night.  A perfect place for guests to dance the night away.

BBQ_MannPolistina15

We loved every detail of this wedding and are so happy to have been able to share it with you!  Hopefully it inspires all of you out there to try out some fun menu options at your wedding!  We’d love it!  Happy planning, everyone!

Repost from Strictly Weddings: Equestrian Wedding Dreams for the Gold N’ Glam

Culinary Crafts is so honored to share this feature from Strictly Weddings of one of our most gorgeous inspiration shoots of all time!!! Check it out!
Equestrian Wedding Dreams for the Gold N’ Glam

Equestrian wedding dreams are not just for the little girls who once wished for a pony. Chic farm style fetes are one of the hottest trends any season of the year. Today’s feature focuses on inspiration that comes in all shapes and sizes including the four-legged variety. A vision of cabernet and gold, bubbly champagne, too pretty to eat cakes, Utah’s beautiful Red Cliff Ranch scenery blended with a formal equestrian flair is all artfully captured by photographer Pepper Nix.

Gold N’ Glam Appeal

A variety of pink and red hues, fused with gold and black present a more formal mood and eloquently create something unexpected. Moving away from a country feel this talented group of wedding and event vendors capitalized on rich textures and luscious color tones. Sit back and take in the beauty of this fine affair – you will forget that you are looking at a styled shoot. Immediately drawn in by its equestrian wedding Gold N’ Glam appeal!

A Fusion of Cabernet and Gold

Not shying away from the growing popular use of gold, chairs, fine textured linens, flatware and goblets glistened in the metallic hue. To accent this royal theme a hint of cabernet chargers and red napkins were used to offset and provide a deeper opulence. A lace and silk swag draped the doors of the ranch stable for a grand entrance. While Studio Stems translated their floral creations into a traditional and formal style, keeping top-of-mind how the flower vessels would interact with the overall vibe and theme. First using a wide based rustic gold urn to hold a rich and contrasting ensemble of blooms. To help the table move with all its elements cohesively, they incorporated small antique gold glass cylinders and bowls with small arrangements as satellites around the main centerpiece. Studio Stem incorporated many of the same blooms used in the bridal bouquet for cohesiveness with the addition of red tulips, geranium leaf, plumose, rambling spray roses, and one large focal bloom in the form of a giant blush protea.

Farm Fresh to Table

Culinary Crafts who presented oysters on the half shelf topped with black sturgeon caviar set the air of fine cuisine. To utilize the idea of farm fresh to table, flavors of unadorned lump crab and bell pepper duxelle combined with a bite of heirloom cherry tomato would be passed to start the meal. In the cooler months, a warm soup course over cold salad for a truly formal dinner would be served. The rich golden color of the butternut soup suited perfectly to the tablescape. The cider cream and toasted pepitos (pumpkin seeds) garnished the top. We love the simple white porcelain bowl that allows the soup to shine on the red and gold place setting.

Ganache and Gold

Moving away from the traditional single wedding cake, a small ornate gold wedding cake acted as the centerpiece to Layers Cake Company dessert table. Petite black cakes added a bit of dramatic contrast to the dessert table. What could be more stunning than black ganache cakes with edible gold glitter?

Chic Rustic Elements

Autumn offers florist the opportunity to move away from blush, ivory, and other light tones and to work with some lush and vivacious color. Studio Stem implemented those soft light blooms of the warmer season for the bridal bouquet, but layered in the contrast of stronger colors like pinks, reds, and greens. Elegant large blooms of the dahlia in both the blush and a strong bold red were used to create a big bloom focus. The mood and the feeling of the ranch is embraced by a few rustic elements like the maiden hair fern, viburnum berry, smilax vine, and a touch of gold with the magnolia leaf wrapped in an antique gold satin.

Four-Legged Bridal Party

What equestrian wedding inspiration is complete without the addition of a gorgeous pure bread horse? Joining the bridal entourage, Studio Stem created a custom smilax vine necklace with an off set cluster of dahlias, spray roses, and ranucs to adorn this beautiful creature with a few extra blooms beautifying the stallion’s long tail.

Rustic Glam Bridal Style

The bride wore Junko Yoshioka’s “Michelle” mermaid gown from Avenia Bridal. Ivory cotton and silk twill fabric gives this gown the thickness and structure that is perfect for fall! We love the unique fluted bodice detail and flounced train that adds softness to the opulent fabric and design. The mix of textures is a big trend and simply stunning for today’s bride. Washington Millinery ivory gloves added elegance and sophistication reminiscent of the Kentucky Derby style. They come just below the elbow for a lady-like, but not overdone look. Signature Brides started with long soft curls down the back for the bridal hair, gradually making them tighter toward her fringe. The front was brushed out to give a soft wave. A wide braid around the back of the hairstyle swept the curls to one side, pinning the center of the curls up to create the illusion of less length in the front to accentuate the bride’s neckline and the top of the dress. Richards Design headband is perfect for the bride deciding between a veil or unique hairpiece; it has a birdcage veil as well as a floral/feathered fascinator accented with horsehair bands. Signature Brides used soft colors for the eyes using shades of gold and pink with dark browns in the corners and a touch of black in the crease for definition. Bold red lipstick and black mascara with individual false lashes completed this subtle yet glamorous equestrian look. Standing beside the gorgeous bride, the groom wore a Genesis fitted tuxedo from Mr. Mac with an “O” button, single-breasted styling and side-vented back. Tailored in soft, luxurious Super 100’s wool that featured a satin notch lapel and satin double besom pockets. The bride’s ring was 18K white and rose gold two tone by Makur Designs from Goldsmith Jewelers with a show-stopping 1.26-carat pink emerald in the center surrounded by .49-carat total weight in diamonds. The groom’s ring is 14K white and rose gold two-tone men’s wedding band. A rare rose pearl necklace where each pearl was handpicked and matched was wrapped around the bride’s wrist to create a layered bracelet look.

Leather and Lace

A rough horse head sketched out during the evening hours in Ann Elizabeth Custom Graphic Design & Printing Studio’s “Leather and Lace” notepad was the first step toward the inspiration of the paper suite. The rich and decadent touch of leather is how the leather strands that wrap around the main invitation became part of the design. The leather square over the leather strands was the perfect opportunity to introduce the horse head monogram for the set. Lace layers on the invitation softened the leather and give the piece balance between hard and soft elements. The menu featured all of the best matching details. A small piece of the leather strand and a band of lace lay across the menu top. Consistency and attention to details all the way through a bride’s paper suite, from save the date to the wedding date, are personal touches guests notice.

Equestrian Wedding Dream

To capture all the beauty of this equestrian wedding dream, Ryan Hinman Films was on hand to bring the day into motion.
Bravo, everyone! We are more than inspired.

Today’s Instagram of the Week comes from our very own Mary Crafts-Homer from an exquisite ranch wedding Culinary Crafts did last weekend!  This cake, from Flour & Flourish, was SO delicious and beautiful!  We LOVED the simple elegance and it perfectly fit in with the amazing wedding design by FUSE Weddings & Events!  So many vendor friends at this event – and thanks for the share, Mary!  Remember, for your chance to be next week’s Instagram of the Week, just tag us at @culinarycrafts or add the hashtag #culinarycrafts to your posts and we may pick your post next week!  Happy weekend, everyone!
