Culinary Crafts Thanksgiving Game Plan!

By | Cooking Classes, Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, Food, Holiday Parties, How To, Parties, Tips

As promised, here is the tried-and-true Culinary Crafts’s Thankgiving Game Plan!  Our very own Mary Crafts-Homer wrote this awesome timeline for those who are looking for a well planned, less stressful, and fabulous Thanksgiving – and don’t we ALLLL want that?!  Yes, yes we do!

We LOVE this plan because it really does make planning SOOO easy – but let’s be honest too…  It’s no fun for just one person to do this all by themselves!  You need your family (or friends) to join together to help make this a perfect holiday.  So, being the super smart woman Mary is, she wrote this plan with different tasks in mind to delegate out.  And believe me, when everyone lends a hand, that’s when the best memories are made.  Happy planning everyone!

Repost from All Seated: Top 5 Ways To Simplify Your Event

By | Corporate Events, Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, How To, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, News, Tips
Check out this AWESOME post from All Seated with tips from our very own Kaleb Crafts!

Kaleb Craft, Chief Sales Officer at Culinary Crafts is here today as a contributor to the AllSeated blog to share the top 5 ways to simplify planning your event. Thanks Kaleb!

Planning a large event can be one of the more stressful experiences of your life! But, it can also be quite enjoyable if you do it the right way. Planning doesn’t depend on your personality as much as it depends on your approach to event planning. Event industry professionals aren’t always passionate about events to begin with.

Often times they begin with a passion for organization and organizational systems, which in turns leads them into the event industry where they get a chance to use those skills to pull off incredible things they get to experience and share with others on a daily basis.

Culinary Crafts

Here are 5 quick tips the sales team here at Culinary Crafts use to make the process a bit smoother.

Nail down your vision before you jump in.

Contractors won’t start digging a hole, setting footings and pouring foundations the first day a client comes in a says “I want to build a home.” They have blue prints complete, engineered plans finished, building permits in place, and a plan in place to execute from start to finish before they turn the first shovel full of dirt. Stress free event planning starts the same way, you should have a general vision, budget, and concept in place before jumping in. This will prevent doubling back tasks multiple times.

Ask yourself questions like, “What is my overall goal?” or “What feelings do I want my guests to have while at the event?” and “What is the single most important thing to me about the event?”

Make a chronological checklist and itemizing the tasks to be done and prioritize by what makes the most sense to you.

This usually helps paint a road map of what to do. We like to do things in this order, 1) pick a date 2) pick a venue and 3) pick a caterer. Complete your list with as many details as you can think of. Work through your list step-by-step.

Research vendors that fit your style and budget.

Often, people suppose that all event companies are created equal. That is not so. Each company has a niche type of event and demographic they work best with. Most can do many things, but that still doesn’t mean one company is going to be the perfect fit for every situation. I wouldn’t walk into a Ferrari dealership looking for the most fuel-efficient car on the planet.

Similarly, if luxury is the single most important thing to me when it comes to buying a new car, I wouldn’t go to the Hyundai dealership. Consider styles, budgets, and overall healthy working relationships. Do some online research and narrow your vendors choices down to 2 or 3 for each category. Have a short 5-10 minute conversation with each one and see who you feel most comfortable with.

Use your contracted vendors to your advantage.

By now you have picked your first couple of vendors and you feel really good about them. They know their stuff, they are clear experts in their field, and they have oodles of experience creating exactly what you are looking for. Well, use that knowledge and expertise.

Culinary Crafts

Ask your caterer for recommendations on good florists, bands, and entertainment companies. Ask your AV company what additional services they offer. Often times, these vendors can help ease the stress of all those additional details. In fact, many times, they may be able to be your one stop shop for all things event. They can coordinate your ice sculpture, transportation, linens and everything else.

Bring in additional help.

Some events really are just more than one person can handle. If your event has the high level of detail that is just too overwhelming no matter how you organize, checklist and structure, then find a good event planner or coordinator. Let them know up front how much help you need. Determine if you need someone you can trust with everything and hand over the reins, or if you just need help with a few key tasks.

Culinary Crafts

Our bonus tip is to remember Rome wasn’t built in a day… don’t try to plan the event of the century in a day. Give yourself plenty of time. Enjoy the process and the smaller details. The best events are about creating memorable experiences and using all 5 senses to do that. Happy Planning!

Napkin Round Up

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Holiday Parties, How To, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Wedding Trends

Weddings are all about details.  From the invitations, to the dress, and everything in between, details are the way that you as a couple can add your personality and style to this very special day.  One of my favorite, and often overlooked, ways to personalize your wedding is with your napkins.  You may be saying, “Huh?  A napkin is a napkin and just there to dab my face after digging in (maybe too enthusiastically) to that scrumptious food I’ve been hoping for since this morning!”  But, yes, napkins can have utility AND style!  Because of this, I’ve rounded up my favorite ways to dress up and showcase your napkins.  Check it out!

Awesome, right?  A napkin can be another detail that makes your guests stop and say “Wow!”  Remember that details are a fun and excellent way to make your event even more stunning!  Happy planning everyone!

One of the new catering trends, which we here at Culinary Crafts love, is the late night snack!  It’s such a great way to treat your guests as they dance and mingle into the wee hours, plus it makes for some really fun food options!  Plus, everyone loves an occasional late night snack.  Take a look!

LateNightSnacks

We love gourmet popcorn as a snack because it’s fun and has ENDLESS flavor possibilities!  Plus who doesn’t love popcorn?

LateNightSnacks2

Nachos, chips n’ salsa, and potato chips – a perfectly topped late night snack.  We especially love the chocolate dipped potato chips.  A delicious duo of salty and sweet!

LateNightSnacks3

Another great option is the comfort foods!  From our chicken and waffles to mini grilled cheese, people will love these miniature versions of classics.  You can even pair the grilled cheese with tomato soup to add more delciousness!

LateNightSnacks4

I love these mini hot dogs, kettle chips, french fries, and burger sliders.  People want to be able to grab their snack and keep on dancing, so these are perfect!  Plus, who hasn’t craved a tasty burger and fries after some late night fun?

LateNightSnacks5

Mini gourmet pizzas and tiny tacos are another great option for a grab and go snack!  Plus, think of the options!  Pizza toppings are limitless and the same for tacos – you can come up with some really great signature flavors to reflect the style of your event!  Yum!

LateNightSnacks6

Don’t forget the sweet snacks!  S’mores, chocolate dipped marshmallows, our house made donuts with house made gelato, milk and cookies, mini churros with dulce de leche…  Need I say more?

I also love these festive milkshakes!  The really add to the party vibe and people will love have a cool treat – especially on those hot summer nights!

Let’s Talk Pickling

By | Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, How To

Pickling

Today I want to share an AWESOME idea with everyone – pickling!  We here at Culinary Crafts love pickled fruits and vegetables and they really have a way of adding a great zing of flavor to any dish you choose – in fact, one of Mary Crafts-Homer’s favorite bites is Culinary Crafts’s Pulled Pork Sliders with Pickled Red Onions.  Yum!  We also love creating pickled veggie trays for fall and winter events and they are definitely a hit.  Plus, pickling is a great way to preserve any fruits or vegetables that you have grown or purchased and aren’t going to be able to eat before they spoil.  Use the pickled offerings on tacos, sandwiches, as a side dish, garnish, or anything else you want – plus, you can pickle so many things like onions, cucumbers (i.e. pickles), green beans, carrots, beets, squash, peppers, watermelon rind (yes, the rind), pears, tomatoes, cauliflower and more!  If you are interested in trying this out, I love this simple “how to” from Martha Stewart here.  This utilizes a blend of spices that is great with many veggies, so you can try a bunch!  Not to mention, homemade pickled fruits and veggies can be an AWESOME holiday gift for anyone!  Happy pickling everyone!

SO YUMMY!  My personal favorite has to be the “Vampire Chasers” – and remember, it’s Halloween!  Have fun with your menu and don’t shy away from making some spookily fun eats!  Your guests will love it!  Happy planning everyone!

Great Wedding Tip for Guests!

By | Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides

Don’t be that guy from Love Genre Films on Vimeo.

I know we usually give the bride and grooms plenty of advice, but what about the guests attending the wedding? I saw this video today and couldn’t resist sharing it! I know we are all tempted to help cover the events of our friends and family’s wedding days with our cell phones, cameras, and/or tablets – but as guests, we need to remember to be present in the moment and that they have hired professionals to capture the moments of their day so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy! That being said, let the couples let you know what they would like – it’s their day after all! Happy watching everyone!
