Great Gasby Inspiration | Trendy Tuesday

By | Trendy Tuesday

Yesterday marked the end of the New York Bridal week and I have to say, designers, you never disappoint!  From splashes of color, to gorgeous textures, to classic beauty, there was a stunner for every conceivable bride.  My newest favorite trend, however, has to be The Great Gatsby!  I have always been a sucker for the 1920s era, I mean, how could you not be?  Sumptuous fabric, gold accents, decadent decor, and the highest of posh fashion – it really is a recipe for grandeur.  With that in mind, I couldn’t help but create a Gatsby inspiration board all built around the GORGEOUS Esmé gown that Jenny Packham released for 2013.  Seriously.  SO. Beautiful.  (Oh and did I mention that you can find the Esmé at one of our favorite vendors, Alta Moda Bridal?  Just sayin’.)  Enjoy!

I LOVE brunch.  Love it, love it, love it.  You may remember that we recently shared a simply PERFECT brunch recipe for our Creme Brulee French Toast (just in time for the Easter holiday!) and today, I am happy to share the KUTV segment with our very own Mary Crafts-Homer and Jocelyn Ball taking you through this delicious recipe, step by step!  Although we posted it with Easter in mind, this recipe is a welcome addition to any breakfast or brunch, whether it be a weekend brunch, a special holiday, or just a treat for a otherwise mundane weekday morning.  Bon appetit and happy brunching everyone!

Hope Gala Cold Menu | Trendy Tuesday

By | Trendy Tuesday

This weekend was one of those times when spring was making its sunshine filled warmth really known and I am so excited for the upcoming summer of sunny days and warm nights – not to mention AMAZING events!  This past year, we were lucky to be able to participate in The Hope Gala which is a wonderful foundation that raises money for The American Cancer Society.  This event was specifically geared this year to promote and reveal the plans for the new Hope Lodge!  It was actually held at the future site of this new facility which will provide a “Home Away from Home” for cancer patients and their families – which is such a welcome service in our city.  For this event, we pulled out all the stops!  And because of the balmy temperatures, we treated the fundraiser’s guests with an “All Cold” menu from start to finish – keeping them delighting over the delicious dishes, while keeping them cool too!  Check it out!

What a beautiful site to host the new Hope Lodge in downtown Salt Lake City!

We love the simple elegance of the florals that adorn the tables.  Always chic and beautiful!

Guests were greeted with a virtual smorgasbord of hors d’oeuvres!  Nothing like variety to get the night started and the guest excited for what’s to come!

The guests started their dinner with this GORGEOUS salad and artisan breads.  SO YUMMY!

The dessert (my favorite part!) was this beauty!  A perfect cold treat to end a perfect night!

Thank you so much to the American Cancer Society for letting us to continue to be a part of The Hope Gala.  We so enjoy helping this worthwhile fundraiser and love the new and inventive menus we come up with every year!  Happy eating everyone!

2013 Trend Report: One of the newest trends is definitely the “Gold ‘n Glam” feel that harkens back to the classic novel, “The Great Gatsby” – even more so with all eyes on the upcoming film set to release soon!  This trend is all about luxe fabrics, decadent details, and liberal use of gold!  We are loving that gold is back in and the Gatsby trend is making full use of its beauty in a big way!  This trend is for the most glamorous of brides or hosts who are wanting to create a feel of everlasting elegance, pure sophistication, and an air of grandeur – so you know I love it!  We at Culinary Crafts love to carry this theme not only from decor but into the food as well!  For this inspiration shoot we envisioned the guests being greeted by an impeccably dressed waiter who would serve them Oysters on the Half Shelf topped with Black Sturgeon Caviar and chilled Champagne.  From there, the guests were asked to be seated for the plated dinner service which started with the fresh flavors of unadorned lump crab and bell pepper duxelle combine with a bite of heirloom cherry tomato to start and followed with a rich and decadent Butternut Squash soup.  To finish the meal, we carry the gold onto the dessert offerings with edible gold-leaf atop the petite black ganache cakes and a gorgeous golden wedding cake with fabulous detailing.  A perfectly gorgeous and truly glamorous event from start to finish!

CATIES nominations for “Caterer of the Year”announced!  And Culinary Crafts is a finalist!
Holy cow!  As if we weren’t already over the moon for the nomination of the ACE award, we got word that we are also nominated for a CATIE for “Caterer of the Year!”  What is all that, you say?  Well, the International Caterers Association (ICA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, mentoring and resources for professional caterers. Their annual “CATIE” awards (Catered Arts Through Innovative Excellence) are given to companies who have risen to the top of their field, achieving remarkable success through innovation and professionalism. There are several categories for “CATIE” awards. Last year, Culinary Craft’s was thrilled to win two “CATIES”, one for “Best Multi-Day Event, and another for “Best Signature Wedding”. This year Culinary Crafts is a finalist in the “Caterer of the Year” category, along with other caterers from around the country and the world! The judging is done by culinary and event industry professionals and industry media professionals. Winners will be announced at the Catersource Tradeshow in Las Vegas in March – which we are currently attending.  So, we’ll definitely keep you posted!  Here are more of our favorite events that we are lucky to have in our portfolio – leading to this prestigious honor!  Fingers crossed everyone!

European Street Market Wedding | Trendy Tuesday

By | Trendy Tuesday

Today, we have a totally different kind of wedding to show you!  This beautiful backyard wedding was a first for Culinary Crafts – which after decades in the industry is saying something! The blushing bride, Maria, had spent several years of her young life living in Europe with her family and she really wanted her wedding to be an experience for every guest that harkened back to that setting.  Her wish was that we would create a feeling of the European lifestyle so it was like their family and friends had taken a trip there with the happy couple – and we were totally excited to help her with that!  It was decided that the backyard would be transformed into a series of European street market stands with an authentic fresh fruit and vegetable stand, a deli market sandwich stand, an apple beer and brat stand, a pomme frites stand, flaming crepe Suzette action stand, Italian gelato cart, and French macaron favors!  So amazing!  Take a look!

The casual and low-key feeling of strolling the markets were definitely carried throughout the event, especially with the blue gingham table linens and fresh flowers that you definitely would see being sold admist the food vendors in Europe.  We loved the laid back and easy beauty of this wedding!

The happy couple chose to create really handmade, whimsical signage that had a truly European flair.  We also loved the bride’s simple floral headdress. So delicate and pretty!

To further create the sense of the streets of Europe, these street signs were created directing guest to the food “vendors”!  SO cute.  We also collected fruit and vegetable boxes to display the crudite and fruits so it looked like a true fruit and vegetable stand!

The deli market stand served freshly made sandwiches that our staff prepared in front of the guests.  My favorite?  The Italian Sausage and Salami baguette with fresh basil and tomato.  YUM!!!

Isn’t this signage fun?  We loved the grab and go pomme frites stand too.

The German Brat stand served up Apple Beer and Brats plus any topping you could dream of. Definitely a crowd favorite!

Their cake was simply adorned with fresh berries and we LOVED the impact it made.  The ripened berries looked stunning against the white buttercream.  Simple and GORGEOUS.  And it that wasn’t enough, the guests also had Italian Gelato, Flaming crepe Suzette, and French Macarons to sait their sweet tooth!

This wedding was truly one-of-a-kind!  We were so happy to have been able to create this experience for such a lovely couple and charming family!  Remember, creating an event that is truly about you and your husband to be is always the best way to have a memorable event.  Whether you focus on a life-changing experience, a shared passion, or just fill it with the people and things that you love, you’ll always have an AMAZING wedding day because it shows the love between you and your beloved.  Happy planning everyone!

Rustic Ranch Wedding Part 1 | Trendy Tuesday

By | Trendy Tuesday

Today, I am so excited to share one of my favorite weddings from 2012 with you!  This colorful wedding was full of gorgeous details, rustic touches, and an overall sense of love, celebration, and family.  It was SO awesome, we actually needed to break it up into 3 separate posts!  Today, we’ll be showing you the beauty of the Red Cliff Ranch which set the stage for this truly spectacular event that we LOVED every second of – not to mention the florals and design of our friends at Scenemakers!  Check it out!

The wedding was held at the GORGEOUS Red Cliff Ranch!  We loved that they wanted the natural beauty and rustic feel of the venue to shine!  So pretty!

The trend of fun signage for the flower girls or ring bearers to carry down the aisle is a great way for couple’s to show their personal side.  Plus the kids love being such an important part of the day!

The Red Cliff Ranch‘s barn was a gorgeous choice for the couple dinner with this newly joined family!  We also love the large monograms on the barn doors that Scenemakers created.  So fun!

The gorgeous mountains of the Heber Valley make for STUNNING backdrops.  Perfect surroundings for the lounge we created in the corral where people could relax and chat in comfy style!

At night, the ranch lights up, and if possible, becomes just as beautiful as it is during the day, if not moreso!  The couple chose to hire Something Vintage, Something Blue‘s Dazee to whisk them away in style.  Love that car!

We are so excited to share the details and food from this day, so stay tuned!  Happy planning everyone!

Utah Bride & Groom Feature – Nantucket Nuptials | Trendy Tuesday

By | Trendy Tuesday

We are winding down with our featured weddings, but we are just as excited to share these beauties as their predecessors and this  STUNNING backyard wedding is simply divine!  Featured in our AMAZING local (and beautiful!)  Utah Bride & Groom Magazine this event boasted fantastic DIY details, easy elegance, and a true Cape Cod flair.  Definitely a favorite!  Check it out!

The GORGEOUS layout n Utah Bride & Groom Magazine featuring photos from David Newkirk Photography!  As usual, we couldn’t resist sharing some of our photos from the day, so here’s a bit more of this festive wedding!

This poolside reception was hosted in the bride’s GORGEOUS childhood home whose Cape Cod inspired architecture truly was a main theme for this wedding.

We loved the fabric flags, preppy color palette, and cool lounge seating.  Such a fun and classic design – we are in LOVE!

The Izze sodas in galvanized tubs on the diving board and lavender bunches that scented the air were a  few of the fantastic details that we couldn’t resist.  Not to mention the whimsical yellow and grey paper straws!

Gorgeous florals from our friends at Scenemakers who, naturally, created breathtaking pieces throughout the space!

My favorite spot were the white “libraries” filled with all sorts of fun things to “grab and go” throughout the evening.  Parchment bags of fruit & cherries, mini foccaccia sandwiches, and yummy skewered lime cilantro shrimp!

Even more scrumptious food from this fantastic affair including chocolate donut holes which looked amazing in the wheat grass display.  Beautiful and delicious!

We love that the couple asked us to add our Farfalle Pasta action station.  Fresh made-to-order pasta dishes were a definite crowd favorite!

The couple added our house-made gelato station in lieu of wedding cake – which we LOVED!  Wedding cake is not a necessary wedding mainstay anymore and we love when couples pick their favorite desserts to really tailor their day instead of conforming to tradition that may not suit them.  In this case, the gelato station was a perfect fit to this easy, relaxed reception!  And a welcome treat on this summer day!

Thank you to Utah Bride & Groom for sharing this picturesque wedding with your readers and thank you to all of the vendors who made this day a hit.  Also, a big congrats to Stephanie and Jonathan!  Thank you for letting us be a part of this GORGEOUS day!
