A Wedding With A Patriotic Twist!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, Food, Holiday Parties, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Venues We Love

You know, all of us here at Culinary Crafts think we get to host some of the most AMAZING weddings!  We especially love events that have a twist on a theme and this one is a favorite for sure.  Plus, it is perfect inspiration for any of the 4th of July events you might be hosting this upcoming weekend.  So, without further ado, let’s get to showcasing this stunning wedding – with a twist of festive, patriotic flair!

CC_LizLee

Aspen Meadows is breathtaking, don’t you think?  It was such a lovely place to host this breathtaking wedding!

CC_LizLee2

We love the subtle hints of Americana and love the couple’s choice to bring a bit of romance and balance to the red, white, and blue palette with pops of pink instead of bright reds.  Such a pretty decor!

CC_LizLee3

Next, we created drink to fit with the patriotic theme like the Strawberry and Blueberry Mojitos!  We loved that the fruit added a delicious touch – but was a super fun “patriotic” detail as well!

CC_LizLee4

Isn’t this a pretty site for a cocktail hour?  We love that the tables weren’t competing with the surrounding natural beauty.  Also, using the taller tables encourages people to mix and mingle – which is great idea for any event!

CC_LizLee5

While the interior had hints of the patriotic palette – and definitely a gorgeously, romantic vibe – the outside was a place that we took the theme over-the-top!  From this fun red, white, and blue teepee (which the kids LOVED) to the patriotic pillows on the luxe white lounge furniture.  It was the perfect way to amp up the theme!

CC_LizLee6

Of course, we made sure to serve some truly delicious eats.  The couple wanted to keep with a more casual menu with an elegant, upscale feel!  The hors d’oeuvres were definitely a reflection of that.  Yum!!!

CC_LizLee7

Such a pretty day for a wedding!  We loved putting the dinner buffet just outside the dining area – another great way to tie in the beautiful surroundings!

CC_LizLee8

We kept the romantic, yet casual, vibe going through dinner – and it was scrumptious!

CC_LizLee9

To kick off the buffet, we served some gorgeous sides like the Mixed Baby Greens Salad with Feta, Berries, Toasted Almonds, & Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette; Roasted Potatoes with Herb Salsa; and Fresh Mozzarella, Basil & Grape Tomatoes Salad.  Light and fresh – perfect for a summer party!

CC_LizLee10

Next, we get to the main courses!  House Made Corn Bread with a Sprinkle of Paprika, served with Honey Butter; Grilled Chicken with Herb & Chili Rub; and finally our AMAZING Barbecued Short Ribs.  Seriously delicious!

CC_LizLee11

Another festive touch for this party?  Fire pits which just beckoned the guests to get outside and hang out.  LOVE!

CC_LizLee12

Of course, since we have fire pits (and it’s a summer party), we just had to have our S’mores Bar complete with Hershey’s Chocolate, Graham Crackers, and Culinary Crafts Signature House Made Marshmallows!  The guests LOVED this fun station!

CC_LizLee13

And, lastly, the bride and groom chose to have this AMAZING American flag ‘cake pop’ cake for dessert which had to be my FAVORITE detail of the whole day!  It was so fun and so festive – a perfect touch for this patriotic wedding!

We loved this wedding so much and think it has so much to inspire you in planning your parties and BBQs for this holiday weekend (and all of summer parties, really)!  Happy planning, everyone!

Upscale, Country Picnic Wedding at the Utah State Capitol!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, How To, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Wedding Trends

Today, I have a beautifully sweet wedding Culinary Crafts did at the Utah State Capitol last summer!  We loved how colorful, fun, and full of cute details there were in this wedding!  Plus, the bride wanted to host an ‘upscale country picnic’ – which we loved!  The menu was so perfect and in line with the playful feel of this event.  Thank you to Kelli Bramble for capturing this event so well – check it out!

The mix of color, textrure, and vintage rentals from Refined Vintage Events were so PRETTY!  We loved how it all came together.  Of course, we would expect nothing less from Michelle Leo Events (who did the day-of planning)!

These escort ‘cards’ were so cute!  So whimsical and bright.  Plus, look at how beautiful the menu board turned out (thanks Karli Noel Calligraphy!)

We love welcoming guests to the table with a tasty bite, so we put together these decadent ‘couples cheese boards’ with local cheeses, fruits, and crisps for each couple to share.  So yummy (and fun)!  Plus, check out the fabulous country-striped napkins, bright table numbers, red chargers, vintage glassware, and organic florals – such a perfect tablescape for the upscale county picnic feel!

How gorgeous is this day?!  A perfect day for this picture perfect wedding!

The bride wanted to incorporate some fun elements like a Lemonade stand.  Isn’t is cool?!  And these Rosemary Shortbread Cookies were a light, summer-y treat that the guests loved!

The bride’s breathtaking bouquet was put on display during the reception, because, I mean why not show off this beauty???  Lizy Bowden Floral Design hit it out of the park!

After dinner, guests were encouraged to mix and mingle at these pretty highboys that were placed around the perimeter of the reception space.  We love dressing up the linens with a simple rosette.  Simple, elegant, and impactful.  Love it!

The bride and groom had an extra special place at the head table with these AMAZING turquoise, vintage chairs and this cute ‘Mr & Mrs’ signage.  We love setting the couple’s seats apart with cute details that really add to the visual interest of the reception space.

Our staff is so AWESOME!  Look at them putting together SO many beautiful plates and looking so stylish to boot!

The guests started their meal with our Summer Greens Salad with Citrus and Kiwi, dressed with a Raspberry Vinaigrette.  Such a perfect summer salad!

Next, the guests were served House Made Potato Chips – and let me tell you, these chips were out-of-this-world!

Because the bride wanted an ‘upscale’ feel, we served this country picnic as a formal plated dinner.  Such a fun twist!  So, along with the delicious chips, the guests were served this AMAZIN’ plate – a trio of sliders.  We made a Classic Hamburger Slider on a Sesame Bun, a Pulled Pork Slider on a Poppyseed Bun, and a Turkey Slider on an Onion Bun.  Add our Watermelon garnished with Mint and Feta and you have a classic summer menu!

Another look at this gourmet trio of sliders, beacause, why not?!  They are so DELICIOUS!

We love this pretty, organic wedding cake.  Not quite a ‘naked’ cake, but definitely with that style.  And the floral touches were so perfect for the feel of this event.  Of course, we made sure dessert was over the top too!  Not only did the guests get wedding cake, but we made House Made Red Velvet Donuts with Culinary Crafts’s Signature Gelato  too!  This was a favorite dish, for sure!

Wasn’t this event so fun?  We absolutely loved it!   From the decor to the menu, every detail was perfect and the guests were thrilled with this one-of-a-kind event.  We hope this inspires you to do something a little different for your wedding too.  Happy planning, everyone!

New Downtown Salt Lake City Venue: Church & State

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

As I’m sure you know, Culinary Crafts is always on the lookout for new, interesting, and gorgeous venues.  When we found out about Church & State in downtown Salt Lake City, well, I can say we were thrilled!  Originally constructed in 1893 (which means it dates back to even before Utah was granted its statehood), this venue was recently renovated from a church to a breathtaking 3,500 sqft space that is perfect for any event!  It boasts traditional styling with touches of modern, industrial design elements and an AMAZING floor to ceiling Mondrian-style stained glass window.  Such a unique and versatile space, we couldn’t wait to host Brianna & Dylan’s wedding here!  Thanks to Kelli Bramble for the beautiful photos!  Check it out!

The couple was looking for a venue that could transition from their wedding ceremony to their reception in the same space. With a guest list of about 100, they needed a larger venue with multiple spaces for each part of their day.  Well, Church & State was just the ticket and it had just the right mix of natural and industrial elements to fit the couple’s style!  Isn’t it stunning?

Their ceremony took place upstairs and then transitioned into the cocktail hour with lounge furniture and cocktail tables so the guests could mix and mingle with each other.  We love how light and bright this space was!

Of course, we served delicious bites during cocktail hour.  The guests were served butler-passed hors d’oeuvres of Carolina Style BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders and Mozzarella Salata Skewers with Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Basil, and Balsamic Drizzle.  So good!

The couple chose a sophisticated color palette of black, white, and gold for their reception dinner which allowed this venue’s unique beauty to shine through!  We love how the palette tied into the space so perfectly.  So pretty!

We love to pre-set elements of the menu on the tables to engage the guests and get them excited for the food to come!  So, for this event, we plated our House-Made Artisan Rolls with Paddle of Sea Salted Butter.  Yummy!

The guests were welcomed to the main level for a fantastic buffet dinner and the sounds of Pixie & the Partygrass Boys provided the perfect background music!

The buffet was a collection of some of our signature favorites!  Like our Arugula, Pear, and Goat Cheese Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette and our Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Sage Butter, which is AMAZING!

We loved the multiple levels of serving dishes in the buffet because it added so much visual interest!  Another menu offering?  Our Roasted Fingerling Potatoes!

We rounded out the menu with our Green Beans Almondine and Lemon Herb Chicken!  What an elegant feast!!!

Isn’t Church & State gorgeous?  We love it and hope it inspires all of you planning your own events to check it out (and other new venues) to find a unique space that fits your style perfectly!  Happy planning, everyone!

This warmer weather has the team here at Culinary Crafts jones-ing for summer!  So, with that vibe in mind, today we have a STUNNING Red Cliff Ranch wedding to share with you.  This romantically rustic wedding was full of beautiful touches – and we aren’t surprised because it was expertly planned and designed by one of our favorite vendor partners, FUSE Weddings & Events!  Add in pretty photos from Alixann Loosle Photography  and you have a winning combo!  Check it out!

CC_Laura&Charley

What a pretty bridal party!  Aren’t those bridesmaid dresses gorgeous?!

CC_Laura&Charley2

And, talk about beauty!  How about this lace detail on the bride’s gown??  Plus, didn’t Artisan Bloom create a picture perfect bouquet?  LOVE!

CC_Laura&Charley3

One of our favorite parts of Red Cliff Ranch is this meadow with the red cliffs (for which is was named) that tower behind the ceremony site.  Such a breathtaking backdrop!

CC_Laura&Charley4

Of course, on this warm summer day, we made sure the guests had a great place to hang out during cocktail hour.  We served beverages and hors d’oeuvres that kept the guests mingling and happy until dinner was served.

CC_Laura&Charley5

Pulled Pork Sliders and  Prociutto Wrapped Utah Peaches were just a couple of the delicious bites our awesome team butler passed to guests!  So yummy!

CC_Laura&Charley6

We also created this AMAZING cheese board with local honey comb!  Such a hit!

CC_Laura&Charley7

Isn’t this reception space BEAUTIFUL?!  FUSE Weddings & Events never disappoints!  And those florals by Artisan Bloom?  Gorgeous!

CC_Laura&Charley8

A simple, yet elegant, place setting was the perfect addition to this romantic table.  Plus, we love the added touch of Karli Noel‘s handdrawn calligraphy that let guests know where their seat was!

CC_Laura&Charley9

CC_Laura&Charley10

The couple chose to serve the dinner ‘family-style’ which, as you know, Culinary Crafts loves!  We started with Artisan Breads like Black Peppercorn Cheddar, Beer Bread, and Corn Muffins with Utah Sea Salt Crusted Creamery Butters.  We also served Roasted Beet Salad with Snuck Farms Fresh Greens, Goat Cheese, Utah Pistachios & Citrus Honey Vinaigrette; Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Olive Oil, Cracked Pepper, and Sea Salt; Mesquite-Grilled Utah Red Trout with Tomato, Basil and Ricotta Risotto; Chicken Paillard with Napa Salad, Daikon, Mango and Mint; and finally Grilled Skirt Steak Cumin-Coriander Mushrooms, and Parsley Sauce.  SOOO good!

CC_Laura&Charley11

CC_Laura&Charley12

To follow up that AMAZING dinner, of course we had to create a decadent dessert bar – just like this one!

CC_Laura&Charley13

Chocolate Pot de Creme with Vanilla Whipped Cream and Mason Jar Berry Cobblers with Fresh Whipped Cream?  Yes, please!

CC_Laura&Charley14

Plus, House Made Gelato?  You bet!

CC_Laura&Charley15

We also made some ‘late-night’ snacks like these Mini Grilled Cheese Bites!  The guests LOVED them!

CC_Laura&Charley16

And, you can’t have a ranch wedding without an AMAZING s’mores bar, just like this one!  The guests always have so much fun making these treats by the fire!

This was SUCH a fun wedding and we are so grateful to all of the amazing vendors who made this day such a gorgeous one!  I hope this inspires you to plan some dreamy ranch weddings, everyone!  Happy planning!

REPOST: A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception

By | Culinary Crafts Events

REPOST FROM UTAH BRIDE AND GROOM BLOG:

Culinary Crafts is so excited to be guest posting today! Utah Bride & Groom Magazine is one of our favorite magazines for wedding trends and inspiration – and we are so honored to be able to add our voice to their stellar blog! Today, we’d love to showcase a beautiful wedding that we did recently that was chock full of divine eats and breathtaking elegance, all in the heart of Salt Lake City.

When we initially met with Lacey and Steven, the bride told us that she envisioned an incredibly elegant wedding at the McCune Mansion (with a GORGEOUS designer dress from Modern Trousseau) and AMAZING, romantic florals. But, she had a twist in store for us!  This bride wanted an sophisticated wedding reception BUT she wanted all of the food and beverages to be bar inspired!  How fun is that? She told us that she wanted to create an intimate atmosphere of total comfort and warmth for her guests – and, boy, was it fun for us to create a menu with such a contrast! I love the juxtaposition between the two styles.  Thank you also to Melissa Kelsey Photography for the fantastic photos!  Check it out!

A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception http://www.culinarycrafts.com/bar-inspired-wedding/

This was such a fun couple and the stunning bride was about as bubbly as could be! Plus that gown!!! LOVE! Not to be out dressed, the groom, who’s a proud Scotsman, naturally wore full Scottish wedding attire which included a dashing kilt!  Such a stylish couple.

A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception http://www.culinarycrafts.com/bar-inspired-wedding/

For this event, we really wanted to mix the feeling of high style elegance and romance with our re-envisioned takes on bar bites and libations for that added twist of fun.  So, of course we made sure that the drinks had that bar classics vibe, but with a feeling of refinement.  So, we concocted standby favorites and gave them a twist (literally and figuratively) and came up with fun, customized names that fit the couple to a ’T’!  Plus, the added touch of the hand drawn calligraphy from Karli Noel was such a pretty presentation!

A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception http://www.culinarycrafts.com/bar-inspired-wedding/

A party is no fun unless the food and drink is plentiful and delectable! We love to greet the guests with hors d’oeuvres during a cocktail hour that allows guests to mingle and chat before dinner and for this very special menu of ‘bar bites elevated’, we dreamed up some really amazing eats!  We served the guests Mini Chicken & Waffles drizzled with Maple Syrup and Mary’s Signature Danger Tots with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, and Jalapeño.  Seriously yummy – and FUN!

A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception http://www.culinarycrafts.com/bar-inspired-wedding/

Isn’t this reception space gorgeous?  We loved the polished look of the golden charges which tied in the golden accents throughout the McCune Mansion.  Plus, the chic palette of white, blush, and pink florals from Native Flower Company really brought in the couple’s desire for a romantic atmosphere. We loved setting the scene for the fabulous meal to come!

A Bar Inspired Sophisticated Wedding Reception http://www.culinarycrafts.com/bar-inspired-wedding/

Of course, a gorgeously elegant wedding day deserves a fabulously upscale, plated dinner for all the guests – but, of course, we gave that a twist for an extra element of unique-ness.  So, we served a starter of a summer favorite, Watermelon with Arugula, Goat Cheese, Fresh Mint, and Balsamic Reduction and then an entree of our AMAZING “Hello, Gorgeous!” Burgers which featured our House-made Grilled Brioche Bun and Culinary Craft’s Secret Sauce with a side of Hand-Cut Truffle Parmesan Fries with Smoked Aioli.

This wedding was SO fun to put together. The Culinary Crafts team are suckers for a gorgeous, elegant event, but raise the bar and ask us to get creative with a menu of classic, bar food to fit the upscale theme of the event? Yes, please!  Such a great day – and, just in time for all of you starting to plan for Valentine’s Day, we wanted to invite you all to an elegant and romantic event of your own!

Culinary Crafts will be hosting a Romantic Pop Up Restaurant dinner on February 14th at our own downtown venue, The Tasting Room. Please join us for a lavish and decadent 6-course dinner that is sure to dazzle your senses!  Find more details here.  We can’t wait to show you and your special someone what an amazing dining experience we offer to every one of our guests!  See you soon and happy dreaming, everyone!

REPOST: A Modern Asian-Themed Wedding at The Leonardo Museum

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Parties, Vendor Love!, Wedding Trends

REPOST FROM SALT LAKE PARK CITY BRIDE AND GROOM BLOG:

We revisit this colorful and contemporary celebration featured in the pages of our magazine.

In celebration of Chinese New Year this weekend, we’re #FBF-ing to Candice Yee & Eric Bender’s Real Utah Wedding featured in our Summer/Fall 2013 issue.

The “Modern Shanghai” and “Upscale Chinatown” themed wedding at The Leonardo Museum in downtown Salt Lake City—planned and designed by FUSE Weddings & Events—was inspired by the couple’s love of travel and Asian street food. Culinary Crafts recreated some of the duo’s favorite eats for the cocktail hour, including skewered shrimp satay, pork pot stickers, and Thai-style fish cakes served with chopsticks in take-out containers lined with Chinese newspaper. The morning of the big day the couple held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, a nod to the bride’s family’s heritage. During the reception, Yee swapped her Vera Wang gown for a traditional red Chinese dress. The couple later departed among a sea of sparklers and glowing Chinese Kongming paper lanterns.

Read the couple’s love story + wedding details here, and see more photos of their festivities here!

The bride and groom, Angie and Scott, wanted to create a spontaneous and carefree wedding experience for themselves and their friends and family. Boy, did they succeed!

They told their guests they were invited to a dinner to share great food and great times with friends and family. When the guests arrived, to their astonishment, they found out it was actually a wedding…Angie and Scott were to married then and there! We give special thanks to their wedding photographer, Steve Speckman, for sharing his beautiful photos with us.
