Trend Report: Fête En Blanc 2018

By | Corporate Events, Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Sharing the Love -Vendor and Client Relationships, Vendor Love!, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today on the blog, I’m excited to FINALLY get to share the amazing Fête en Blanc event (hosted by Utah Bride & Groom Magazine) with you all!  This is THE premier event for the Utah Wedding Industry – and we were SO thrilled to work alongside the team of fantastic vendors to make this epic party seriously epic.  Check it out!

The event was hosted at Natural History Museum of Utah and was designed by Mara Marian of Fuse Wedding and Events – who wanted to take the party up a notch.  And, boy did she!  From our very own Mary Crafts-Homer:  “I love the direction that Mara and Fuse Wedding and Events was taking at this year’s UBG White Party [aka Fête en Blanc].  The eclectic color scheme, contemporary venue, the edgy vibe…”

Some of the AWESOME event planning team at Culinary Crafts enjoying the bash.  Such a great group of people!!!

Isn’t this design SOOOO cool???  We loved the variety and style of the rentals from Eclectic Hive.  Such a different look – but one that was perfect at Natural History Museum of Utah!  Plus, such a welcome option for people planning an event with a more unique vibe, don’t you think?

The florals by Kellie Jackstein of Artisan Bloom were jaw-droppingly beautiful (of course!) and we loved the modern, yet organic touch they added to the decor.

Another great element of this event?  All of the eclectic lounge spaces throughout the event.  Each one was unique and beautiful, but they all worked SO well together.  This was such a great way to get people to move through the spaces to see ALL of the details and encourage mixing and mingling – perfect for a networking party!

These fuchsia chairs are my favorite!  Such a fun pop amidst a neutral palette.  And speaking of lounge spaces, another note from Mary Crafts-Homer, “All [the event design] shouted to me for a new approach to the food service at the White Party.  No more food stations with long lines, but create a menu of all passed hors d’oeuevres with the food coming to the guests, not the guests coming to the food.  This night is about networking and from my own past experiences, I knew I hated hunting down the food.  The concept of an all butler-passed menu by waiters in all white uniformsb was a huge success!  I designed a menu of easy to eat, scrumptious, and exciting hors d’oeuvres that were loved by all.”

We served White Sangria (of course) for our signature cocktail/mocktail.  Such a refreshing, and pretty, drink for the party!

There were SO many delicious bites!  First up, Cold Smoked Utah Herb Goat Cheese on a Peeled Cucumber Slice with Micro Greens; Bacon Wrapped Dates with Goat Cheese, and Honey; and Smoked Salmon and Curried Egg on Rye Crostini.  Yum!!!

Next, our Shrimp with Gazpacho and Lemon Zest; Skewered Watermelon, Mint, Feta, Balsamic Reduction, Black Salt, and Lime Zest; and Polenta with Pecans and Macerated Apricots.  Beautiful and delicious…

Some of our signature summer favorites were also served!  Like our Roasted Mushroom Cap with House-Made Kimchi and Utah Apple Slices with Artisan Cheese, drizzled with Honey.

Last but not least, we rounded out the menu with our Sweet Pea Pesto and Roasted Tomato on Bruschetta; Roasted Corn Cake with Spicy Mango Chutney, Cumin Cream, and Cilantro Garnish; and Razored Beef, Caramelized Onion, Golden Raisin Chutney, Gorgonzola Spread Bruchetta.  Mmmm…

Isn’t this a fun element?  Retro Rentals provided this trailer to house one of the treat/bar areas!  So cool and such a versatile way to add something a bit different to an event!

Mary Crafts-Homer thanking the attendees for creating such a fantastic local industry!

Such a great night of celebration and networking!!!  Phenomenal experiences happen when the unleashed minds of vendors like these come together to create an unforgettable night of celebration!

Trend Report: Extend Your Cocktail Hour!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today on the blog, we have a GORGEOUS wedding we had the pleasure of being a part of recently that was held at one of our favorite venues, the Natural History Museum of Utah!  Generally speaking, this venue doesn’t need much decor to make an impact because it’s designed so beautifully inside, so it’s perfect for couples looking for a modern, clean design – and even more perfect for those who want to treat their guests to gorgeous views while enjoying delicious food!  Speaking of which, one of the trends we are seeing a lot of lately is the idea of hosting an extended cocktail hour for guests to mix and mingle at and offering an elaborate variety of hors d’ouevres to keep them happy too!  Without further ado, let’s see this stunning fȇte!

© Heather Nan Photography

Firstly, one of the more unique parts of this wedding was that the couple chose to host their wedding ceremony at Red Butte Garden’s Rose House, which is actually next door to the Natural History Museum of Utah.  We LOVED this idea to host the celebration at 2 different venues!  Also, we hosted a little pre-ceremony cocktail hour (even on top of the extended cocktail hour during the reception) and of course, we had beautiful signature cocktails for the guests.  LOVE!

What an entrance!  The guests were treated to the gorgeous natural surrounds as they made their way to the wedding reception.  Simply gorgeous!

Simple, clean, modern design was in full force here – and what a gorgeous impact it made!  FUSE Weddings and Events and Orchid Dynasty put together an AMAZING design that really fit in perfectly with the existing space.  And how cool are those branches as centerpieces?  They complimented the green glass accents beautifully!

Another look at this beautiful table, because, why not?!  Simply perfect.

We love putting a simple, beautiful menu on each plate.  Not only is it informative, but it gets the guests excited for what’s to come!  And, boy, were they in for a treat!

As I mentioned before, we are seeing longer, more elaborate cocktail hours more and more often.  This wedding was a perfect example of this trend!  Kendall (the bride) wanted a longer cocktail hour as this was her favorite part of every wedding she has ever attended, so, we planned a lot of wonderful passed hors d’oeuvres to keep everyone happy!  These Petite Quesadillas with Avocado, Brie, Kalamata, & Roasted Red Pepper and Lamb Lollipops with Mint Pesto were only the tip of the menu ‘iceberg’!

We also served Watermelon Cube Skewers with Balsamic Reduction & Mint Chiffonade and Sweet Pea Mash with Roasted Tomato & Focaccia Crisp.  Yum!  And doesn’t our amazing staff look awesome passing these delicious bites to the guests?  We think so!

Last, but certainly not least, we rounded out this fantastic offering of hors d’ouevres with Smoked Salmon, Capers, Olive Oil on Frozen Slice of Lemon; Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Cold-Smoked Goat Cheese; and Lump Crab with Key Lime Juice, Jalapeno, Sea Salt on House Potato Crisps.  Seriously delectable!

What a view!  The guests not only were treated to amazing eats, but these stunning views and a bluebird sky!  This is certainly one of the most unique elements that NHMU boasts.

When the guests were welcomed inside for dinner, they still were treated to those signature views while they dined!  The floor to ceiling windows are STUNNING!

Another view of the guests getting ready to enjoy a fantastic plated dinner!  Plus, doesn’t NHMU just look AMAZING?!

First up, the guests were served Snuck Farms Baby Butter Lettuce Head with Parmesan and Lemon Zest, with Honey Citrus Vinaigrette, and finished with Sea Salt.  We also pre-set a Mini Herb Sourdough Bagette with Compound Herb Butter Paddle at each guests seat, which looked amazing!  A perfect summer menu first course!

Even with the variety of hors d’ouevres, the guests still happily dug into this first course.  The guests LOVED it!

We also served a selection of 3 entrees so guests could choose what they’d like!  (Always such a nice touch to make your guests feel special.)  They had the choice of Mesquite-Grilled Trout Filet with Sweet Tomato Jam, Hand Torched Sous Vide Beef Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom Chauseur Sauce, or Vegetable Napoleon with Sweet Tomato Jam.  Each entree was served with Marscapone & Asiago Grilled Polenta Cake with Micro Greens and a Fresh Green Bean Bundle Tied with Chive.  So good!

© Heather Nan Photography

Such a BEAUTIFUL wedding for Kendall! After the guests ate their fill, they danced the night away…  All while enjoying watching the city lights appear which provided the perfect finishing touch to a romantic day.  So amazing!  And, if you are the kind of couple who wants to really offer a lot of mingling with your guests, we’d definitely suggest an extended cocktail hour as an option!  Such a great idea and lets you really get to visit with all of your special people.  Happy planning, everyone!

An Elegant, Unique Utah Valley Wedding

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Wedding Trends

Today on the blog, have I got an AMAZING wedding for you!  It is full of personal touches, gorgeous florals, and FABULOUS food (of course)!  We were honored to be a part of Beth and Jeff’s stunning, and totally unique, wedding day!  This post is a long one, but I promise, you won’t be disappointed!  Check it out!

From our very own Jocelyn Gillies: “The location of the wedding is what meant the very most for the couple. The private residence (where the dinner was held) is the home they were living in when they got engaged. They then began building their home together on the property next door which is where the wedding ceremony took place, in the framed structure of their new home.”  Isn’t that so beautiful?  I love that they incorporated so much of their story into their wedding!

This wedding’s palette was clean and crisp, and all shades of white.  The feel was a Bohemian respite nestled in the mountains – and boy did these florals and the design deliver!  So pretty!

If you are looking for another fun element to add to your cocktail hour, We smoked oranges as part of our cocktail hour offerings. You eat them rind and all.  So delicious and a total crowd-pleaser.

Talk about delicious!  The couple, who both work in the health food industry and also own a health food company, were very particular about the menu – as were many of their guests!  This just goes to show that healthy does not have to be boring.

Most of this deliciously health-conscious menu was paleo centered, including these bites.  House-Made Duck Ham in a Basil Boat, Roasted Bone Marrow with Baked Root Vegetables and Thinly Sliced Sourdough, and Roasted Jersey Pepper and Strawberry Shooters topped with a Sweet Pepper Sliver and Sous Vide Strawberries. This Jersey pepper was a nod to the Groom’s East Coast roots.

Culinary Crafts loves custom charcuterie and getting to feature our local artisan vendors!  We served assorted smoke, salt, and air cured Creminelli salumi and proscuitto, all hand carved at the station.

The most unique part of this event was the seating. Guests were seated at one long table. So this simple and impactful chart as guests entered helped everyone find their seats without hassle.

There was SOOOO much more food.  A couple of the butler-passed hors d’oeuvres to start the evening, Lamb Shoulder in a Belgian Enive Leaf with Mint Chiffonade, Smoked Rocky Mountain Trout on a Watermelon Radish with Salacia Micro Greens, and Salmon Sashimi with Fingerling Lime ‘Caviar’ on a Utah Sea Salted Kettle Chip.

This Bison Carpaccio with Citrus Glaze and Brined Caperberry was so pretty and unique  Also, inside scoop, it was pretty darn tasty.

The last of the amazing cocktail hour nuggets- Compressed Local Watermelon with Arugula and Balsamic and Crispy Pork Belly with Garlic Greens and Balsamic Sultanas on Crostini.  What a way to round out the start of this fantastic menu, wouldn’t you say?

We LOVED the textural diversity that the table length floral runner added to the design!  I know many people think that an all-white palette can get monotonous, but add texture and different floral variations and you got something engagingly enticing.  This is one of those trends that I think we will be seeing for a long time.

This day was HOT.  Really, really hot.  The way only a Utah day in July can be and so we were constantly spraying down the florals to keep them pretty AND offering all of the guests ice cold drink offerings to keep them cool.  One way Culinary Crafts loves to do this is by offering infused waters like Citrus Mint and Orange Strawberry – and for those guests who wanted something a little sassier than water, we offered His and Hers cocktails! His Rocky Mountain Manhattan and Her Hummingbird.

Another trend we loved from this tablescape, the mixed metals with the simple menus.  Rose gold flat ware, mercury glass votives, and the all white palette.   Heavenly.

To welcome the guests to dinner, our house made ciabatta loaves were was pre-set along the tables and were served along with Pink Himalayan Salt compound butters.

And, let me just go back to this table, because, man it is gorgeous!  Creating this stunning and intimate experience for the bride, groom, and their guests was definitely the highlight of the evening.

To kick off this incredible culinary journey, we served Snuck Farm Rainbow Chard, Whipped Ricotta, Barbequed Beets, Finely Chopped Granola, Toasted Quinoa, and Slide Ridge Honey Vinaigrette.  Not to be outdone, the second course was an equally amazing plate of Pan Seared and Butter Poached Sea Scallops with Micro Amaranth, Hand-Cut Zoodles with Cashew Avocado Cream, and Shaved Parmesan.  Mmmm…

Let’s take a minute and recognize the incredible Culinary Crafts staff who always keeps it classy, even in the most unique of serving situations and extreme temperatures. They are truly an amazing group. Since this event was in the middle of a field, our kitchen options were limited. So Culinary Crafts did what we do best. Created our own kitchen. The team brought in grills, ovens, burners, tables and more to create this lovely meal.

To round out the dinner we served Summer Vegetable Terrine and Lemon Caper Rubbed Red Bird Chicken and Snuck Farm Sorrel Picatta with waiter poured velouté.  Added a elegant ending to this family style meal.

It isn’t quite sunset yet, but you can see the light starting to fade and I have to say, the most dramatic note of the evening came by way of the candlelit dining table running through the open mountain escape.  Truly breathtaking in every way.

After dinner the guests were invited to enjoy coffee and a selection of scrumptious desserts.  Our ‘Coffee Nerd’ coffee bar is one of our favorite action stations – and the guests are always big fans!

On to the desserts (my favorite!) The Bride and Groom both hail from the east coast and when Jocelyn met them for the first time she let them know that our assistant pastry chef (who happens to be Sicilian) made the BEST cannolis Jocelyn had ever had! To say they were hesitant was an understatement, but once they had one for themselves, the totally agreed and added it to their menu!   Love all of the special details that made this a unique, tailored experience for the couple and their guests!

We didn’t stop there! Homemade Mountainland Apple Pie with Culinary Crafts’ house made Caramel Gelato topped with Warm Whiskey Raisin Caramel Sauce as well as Zabaglione Shooters topped with Fresh Berries, Micro Basil, and Candied Pistachio Biscotti.  I’ll take one of each, please!

Last, but certainly not least, we served Grilled Stone Fruit over Culinary Crafts’ Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla Gelato.  So simple and so delicious!

The couple planned for the party to go into the wee hours, and of course, they made sure that their guests were well fed the entire time!  They asked us to serve a selection of late-night noshes, including a Pho After Dark Bar!  We loved this idea!!! Truly catering for those who give a Pho.

Thank you to Beth and Jeff for letting Culinary Crafts be a part of your epic wedding day!  We absolutely loved every minute of this event and hope you did too!  Happy planning all!

A Elegant, Glam Wedding at the Rice Eccles Tower!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Rice Eccles Stadium & Tower, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

QUICK NOTE BEFORE WE GET TO TODAY’S BLOG: Thank you to everyone who joined us at the ‘Showdown for Support’ yesterday! It was such a great evening and we loved having you all there to support such a great cause!

As we plunge into cooler temperatures (and then back out, because Utah likes to keep us on our toes), our thoughts turn toward fall and winter weddings and their GORGEOUS color palettes that we love so much.  Today, we have a Culinary Crafts wedding that just screams ‘winter beauty’ with its rich blues and accents of silver.  Pair that with elegant white and blue florals?  Well, I think you’ll see why we love this event so much!  Check it out!

Isn’t this GORGEOUS???  We absolutely LOVED the sequined runners and the navy linens.  So pretty!

Every Blooming Thing‘s elegant florals were so perfect for this wedding!  Plus, isn’t the cake from Carrie’s Cakes AMAZING?

Another gorgeous floral arrangement!  We loved the use of different heights and types of arrangement to create a more visually interesting space.

This couple was so fun!  They gave each table an ‘assignment’ to encourage guests to mingle and share stories about the couple.  Such a fun idea!

How cool is this head table?  The use of the aspens trunks really added some drama to the table design!

Another cool element on these tables were these super chic table numbers!

Now, onto the food – which we thought was pretty amazing, if we do say so ourselves!  Guests were greeted with butler-passed hors d’oeuvres like these Pomme Frites with Aioli Dipping Sauce in bamboo cones.  Yum!

Another shot of these delicious fries, because why not?

Another butler-passed hors d’oeuvres was our Argentinian-Style Chicken Empanadas with Chimichurri Sauce – so good!

The couple chose to serve an amazing buffet which included our Miso-glazed Salmon and, of course, our House Made Breads with Sea Salted Butter!

Along with the Miso-glazed Salmon, we also served Teriyaki Grilled Chicken, Sautéed Zucchini, and Asparagus Risotto with Mascarpone Cream.  Such a decadently delicious winter menu!

Another fun element?  The bride and her mom created this candy table for guests to fill a box to take home as their wedding favor!  We love how pretty it turned out!

We absolutely loved this glam wedding and think the Rice Eccles Tower was the perfect venue!  We hope this inspires all of you with winter events to maybe add a little sparkle to your event!  You won’t be disappointed!  Happy planning, everyone!

A Simply Stunning NHMU Wedding from the Pages of SLPC Magazine!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Every Day Life at Culinary Crafts, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Sharing the Love -Vendor and Client Relationships, Vendor Love!, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today, I am going to share a GORGEOUS Culinary Crafts wedding that is brimming with natural beauty that you might recognize from the pages of Salt Lake / Park City Bride and Groom Magazine!  Plus, it’s perfect inspiration for the upcoming fall season because the menu took queue from some of the bounty of local fall produce.   We absolutely LOVED this couple, the venue (The Natural History Museum of Utah ) is gorgeous, and the beautiful, yet low key, organic vibe was so perfect.  Plus, our friends at Fuse Weddings & Events did the event design and planning, so it was flawless, of course!  Thank you for sharing these stunning images, Elisha Braithwaite Photography – now, check out this amazing wedding!

How pretty is this Minted invitation suite?!  Even the stamps are perfectly picked to match the style of the wedding!  LOVE!

The Natural History Museum of Utah is such a GORGEOUS backdrop for photos!  We love the architectural design of the space and the mix of materials makes it so full of texture and visual interest!

Isn’t this couple stunning?  Love them!

Another great feature of this venue?  The natural light!!!  Not only do you get amazing views of the Salt Lake Valley, but it makes this reception area so bright, open, and airy!  Also, we loved that the dinner menus were custom designed to match the invitation suite!  Such a great touch.

A simple, organic table scape is anything but boring!  We loved the pop of gold with the natural and white linens, the texture of the glass, concrete, and wooden flower vessels, and the soft pinks, whites, and green colors of the florals that Orchid Dynasty put together.  Add a sprig of lavender with a simple tie of gold raw silk in the napkins, and you are set!

Another simple, yet gorgeous, piece of this wedding was this escort card table!  We love the use of succulents and the white rocks with the modern design of the cards!  Such a clean, polished look!

Of course, we put together one of our signature charcuterie boards!  Full of local cheeses and meats, local honey, and dried fruit this is a perfect nosh for guests before dinner!

This couple chose a ‘family-style’ dinner – which is one of our favorites!  This setup encourages guests to interact and mingle while sharing plates of delicious food, like our house made breads and gourmet butters.  We loved the Heirloom Carrot Sourdough with Black Lava Salted Butter and the Rustic Ciabatta with Pesto Butter!

The salad course was our Snuck Farm Salad with Spinach, Romaine, Utah Pears, Cranberries, Candied Walnuts, Gorgonzola, and Balsamic Vinaigrette.  So yummy!

For the entree course, we served a bunch of different options so guests had a ton of variety to choose from!  This is our Rocky Mountain Red Trout with Granny Smith Apple Chutney.  Such a great fall menu choice!

Next, our Roasted Vegetable Napoleon with a Rosemary Skewer, Olive Oil Drizzle, Garnished with Sea Salt.  Aren’t these so pretty?  They are pretty tasty too!

Another fantastic fall menu option?  Our Brown Butter Sage Gnocchi with Chantrelle Mushrooms and Sweet Corn.  This is always a guest favorite!

Last, but certainly not least, our Cabernet-Braised Short Ribs.  SO.  GOOD.

Isn’t the view AMAZING?  Imagine dining with this incredible backdrop, some fun conversation, and fabulous food!  Pretty perfect, I’d say.

Staying true to the simple, yet gorgeous, feel of the event, the couple asked us to create a simply gold accented Almond Cake which we garnished with blueberries and simple greens.  I absolutely adore this cake, so pretty!

Another fun element that the couple chose that we loved?  Local chocolate and tawny port tastings!  You know how we LOVE our local chocolatiers, so this was a favorite part of this wedding for sure!

Of course, there were sweets too!  These Lavender Shortbread cookies tied in the sprigs found in the guests napkins and also were a great little treat to grab before going back onto the dance floor!

For autumnal weddings, we love serving a dessert that perfectly pulls from the fall harvest!  So, we served Sweet Potato and Pecan Cakes with a Salted Caramel Moat.  And let me tell you, this dessert was made of the stuff of my dreams, people.  A knock-out way to end this couple’s amazing menu!

Wasn’t this wedding so dreamy?!  Thank you so much, Salt Lake / Park City Bride and Groom Magazine for featuring this gem in your glossy pages!  We hope this inspires all of you to have fun with your menu and go for simple, yet striking details that will amp up your wedding day!  Happy planning, everyone!

A Wedding With A Patriotic Twist!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Featured: Culinary Crafts in the Press, Food, Holiday Parties, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Venues We Love

You know, all of us here at Culinary Crafts think we get to host some of the most AMAZING weddings!  We especially love events that have a twist on a theme and this one is a favorite for sure.  Plus, it is perfect inspiration for any of the 4th of July events you might be hosting this upcoming weekend.  So, without further ado, let’s get to showcasing this stunning wedding – with a twist of festive, patriotic flair!

CC_LizLee

Aspen Meadows is breathtaking, don’t you think?  It was such a lovely place to host this breathtaking wedding!

CC_LizLee2

We love the subtle hints of Americana and love the couple’s choice to bring a bit of romance and balance to the red, white, and blue palette with pops of pink instead of bright reds.  Such a pretty decor!

CC_LizLee3

Next, we created drink to fit with the patriotic theme like the Strawberry and Blueberry Mojitos!  We loved that the fruit added a delicious touch – but was a super fun “patriotic” detail as well!

CC_LizLee4

Isn’t this a pretty site for a cocktail hour?  We love that the tables weren’t competing with the surrounding natural beauty.  Also, using the taller tables encourages people to mix and mingle – which is great idea for any event!

CC_LizLee5

While the interior had hints of the patriotic palette – and definitely a gorgeously, romantic vibe – the outside was a place that we took the theme over-the-top!  From this fun red, white, and blue teepee (which the kids LOVED) to the patriotic pillows on the luxe white lounge furniture.  It was the perfect way to amp up the theme!

CC_LizLee6

Of course, we made sure to serve some truly delicious eats.  The couple wanted to keep with a more casual menu with an elegant, upscale feel!  The hors d’oeuvres were definitely a reflection of that.  Yum!!!

CC_LizLee7

Such a pretty day for a wedding!  We loved putting the dinner buffet just outside the dining area – another great way to tie in the beautiful surroundings!

CC_LizLee8

We kept the romantic, yet casual, vibe going through dinner – and it was scrumptious!

CC_LizLee9

To kick off the buffet, we served some gorgeous sides like the Mixed Baby Greens Salad with Feta, Berries, Toasted Almonds, & Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette; Roasted Potatoes with Herb Salsa; and Fresh Mozzarella, Basil & Grape Tomatoes Salad.  Light and fresh – perfect for a summer party!

CC_LizLee10

Next, we get to the main courses!  House Made Corn Bread with a Sprinkle of Paprika, served with Honey Butter; Grilled Chicken with Herb & Chili Rub; and finally our AMAZING Barbecued Short Ribs.  Seriously delicious!

CC_LizLee11

Another festive touch for this party?  Fire pits which just beckoned the guests to get outside and hang out.  LOVE!

CC_LizLee12

Of course, since we have fire pits (and it’s a summer party), we just had to have our S’mores Bar complete with Hershey’s Chocolate, Graham Crackers, and Culinary Crafts Signature House Made Marshmallows!  The guests LOVED this fun station!

CC_LizLee13

And, lastly, the bride and groom chose to have this AMAZING American flag ‘cake pop’ cake for dessert which had to be my FAVORITE detail of the whole day!  It was so fun and so festive – a perfect touch for this patriotic wedding!

We loved this wedding so much and think it has so much to inspire you in planning your parties and BBQs for this holiday weekend (and all of summer parties, really)!  Happy planning, everyone!

A Bright, Colorful Summer Ranch Wedding!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Parties, Sharing the Love -Vendor and Client Relationships, Vendor Love!, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today on the blog, we have a bright and BEAUTIFUL ranch wedding that was held at a private residence in the Maple Ridge Ranches – so you know its going to be breathtaking!  We absolutely loved how bold the color palette was and how fun and creative the menu was!  Thank you to Kristina Curtis Photography for the amazing photos.  Check it out!

A mix of classic lace with a fun twist from these colorful cowboy boots.  Plus that amazing bouquet from Roots Floral Design?!  Absolutely flawless!

How stunning is this floral arch?  These peonies are my favorite!  We love how the colors popped against the beautiful blur skies and green fields.

We love this ceremony space!  Such a perfect setting for this intimate celebration.

I love it when couples have their furbabies at their weddings!  And, how cute are these pups with their bandanas?!  LOVE.

I’m telling you, these peonies were out of this world!  We loved using them to dress up our wooden serving platters!  Such a great touch that perfectly tied into the feel of this wedding!

We loved how the centerpieces popped against the lace, natural burlap, and white washed tables and chairs from Diamond Rental.  Plus, the mixed metallics of the votives really added a touch of elegance!

I mean, seriously, how pretty was this room?  Love the wagon wheel chandeliers too!

The couple chose to give their guests favors that were sweet AND pretty!  This custom candy bar with these sweet little treat bags were so cute!

Of course, with a celebration this fun, we had multiple chef stations around the space to add interest and encourage the guests to mix and mingle.  We also loved using spare blooms to dress up the stations!  This is our Snuck Farm Salad Bar with locally grown produce with all of the trimmings for a summer salad!  Yum!

Beautiful sliced Utah Apples and Candied Pecans were an obvious choice for the salads!  Plus, we offered three tasty, summer dressings – Raspberry Vinaigrette, Caramelized Onion Vinaigrette, and Slide Ridge Honey Vinaigrette!  So good!

These cute take out boxes were the perfect vessel for our Vegetarian Wok station!  Aren’t they so cool?

Next station, our Chef Torched Tri Tip!  Always a crowd favorite!

Along with the Tri Tip we added our amazing sides, like House Made Chimichurri Sauce and Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Olive Oil and Sea Salt!  Such a great pairing!

This Curry Salmon with Carrot Oat Waffles and Bechamel Sauce was so different and delicious!  We loved this dish!

Another shot of these gorgeous florals, (because, well, they are amazing!)  And how pretty was this cake from Carrie’s Cakes?!  We loved how the lace and burlap elements tied into the simply elegant cake, and the addition of the bright florals really made it so romantic!

Of course, there were desserts (my favorite!)   We couldn’t just serve one, so we made it a grand buffet with ALLLL the delicious plus slices of the fabulous wedding cake!

We served our Pot de Cremes and Milk and Cookie Shooters.  Love these cute little bites!

Our Raspberry Crumb Bars are a classic dessert offering for mix and mingle receptions too!  So tasty and easy to carry around while talking to everyone!

Last, but not least, our Fresh Berry Parfaits and Salted Caramel Shortbread Bars rounded out the AMAZING desserts we served.  Perfect for this summer menu!

Wasn’t this wedding so pretty?  We absolutely LOVED this wedding and how colorful it was!  I hope this inspires you all to be a little bold with your color choices and creative with your menus!  Happy planning, everyone!

A Romantic, Destination Wedding at the Gallivan Center Plaza!

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Sharing the Love -Vendor and Client Relationships, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

Today, on the blog, we have a STUNNING wedding that Culinary Crafts had the pleasure of working on last summer with our friends, FUSE Weddings & Events!  This wedding absolutely transformed the Gallivan Center Plaza into a romantic getaway for the couple’s guests!  The couple, who reside in Wyoming, wanted to host a wedding in Salt Lake City because the majority of their family lives here.  They also wanted to create a gorgeous experience that was still casual with local comfort food and lots of lounge seating so their guests could let their hair down and enjoy the celebration – and I have to say, FUSE knocked it out of the park!  Check it out!  And thank you to Lindsey Shaun for the beautiful photos!

Have you ever seen the Gallivan Center Plaza look so magical?  We haven’t either – but boy, was it breathtaking!  And the florals by Soil and Stem sent this event over the top!

I couldn’t resist sharing another shot of this gorgeous set up and the amazing lounge furniture that the bride wanted so their guests could relax.  So lovely!

I love the centerpieces and the geode table numbers are so PRETTY!  Ah-mazing.

How cute is the couple?!  They were so fun and I loved the seating chart was so pretty too.

The bride loves shrimp lettuce wraps – so, of course, we passed those during the cocktail hour and the guests loved them!

Going along with the ‘local, comfort food’ feel of the menu, we served local fruits and cheeses, which were a great snack for guests to grab as they mingled during cocktail hour, and a selection of beers that included some local favorites from Uinta Brewing Co.

Another fun element?  This street taco station where guests could make their own tacos!

A taco bar isn’t complete without chips and salsa!  So, we served a bunch of different salsas, cabbage slaw, and fun, fiesta color chips!  Yum!

For the Utah-themed dinner menu, we brought in local meats including skirt steak, which was grilled on-site, with a chimichurri sauce.  Side note, we love having a carving station at events.  Such an elegant addition to the menu!

Again, how gorgeous is this reception space???  SO IN LOVE WITH THIS!

The couple chose to host a buffet of local favorites so guests could grab a bite at their leisure.  This menu was so much fun to put together!

Local Farm Greens with Feta, Raspberries, Toasted Almonds and Raspberry Vinaigrette and Mesquite Chicken (also grilled on site) with Mango Salsa were two of the offerings.  Such great options for warm weather events!

A classic staple at any of our events is our House-Made Artisan Breads with Sea Salt Butter.  Plus, how can you have a ‘comfort-food-centric’ menu without Mary’s Mac N’ Cheese?  The answer is you can’t.  🙂

A beautiful night for a gorgeous wedding!

These hand stamped forks are adorable!  The perfect compliment to the couple’s simple, yet elegant, cake from Flour and Flourish!

Love this shot of these two lovebirds!

Last, but certainly not least, we served our House-Made gelato cones alongside the wedding cake!  A perfect pairing!

We LOVED this wedding!  It truly was an amazing event that we were so happy to be a part of!  And thank you to the amazing team of vendors who made this day so epic!  I hope this inspires everyone to create stunning events of your own.  Happy planning, everyone!

New Downtown Salt Lake City Venue: Church & State

By | Culinary Crafts Events, Event Tips and Planning, Food, Modern Wedding Style, Hot Tips for Cool Brides, Venues We Love, Wedding Trends

As I’m sure you know, Culinary Crafts is always on the lookout for new, interesting, and gorgeous venues.  When we found out about Church & State in downtown Salt Lake City, well, I can say we were thrilled!  Originally constructed in 1893 (which means it dates back to even before Utah was granted its statehood), this venue was recently renovated from a church to a breathtaking 3,500 sqft space that is perfect for any event!  It boasts traditional styling with touches of modern, industrial design elements and an AMAZING floor to ceiling Mondrian-style stained glass window.  Such a unique and versatile space, we couldn’t wait to host Brianna & Dylan’s wedding here!  Thanks to Kelli Bramble for the beautiful photos!  Check it out!

The couple was looking for a venue that could transition from their wedding ceremony to their reception in the same space. With a guest list of about 100, they needed a larger venue with multiple spaces for each part of their day.  Well, Church & State was just the ticket and it had just the right mix of natural and industrial elements to fit the couple’s style!  Isn’t it stunning?

Their ceremony took place upstairs and then transitioned into the cocktail hour with lounge furniture and cocktail tables so the guests could mix and mingle with each other.  We love how light and bright this space was!

Of course, we served delicious bites during cocktail hour.  The guests were served butler-passed hors d’oeuvres of Carolina Style BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders and Mozzarella Salata Skewers with Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Basil, and Balsamic Drizzle.  So good!

The couple chose a sophisticated color palette of black, white, and gold for their reception dinner which allowed this venue’s unique beauty to shine through!  We love how the palette tied into the space so perfectly.  So pretty!

We love to pre-set elements of the menu on the tables to engage the guests and get them excited for the food to come!  So, for this event, we plated our House-Made Artisan Rolls with Paddle of Sea Salted Butter.  Yummy!

The guests were welcomed to the main level for a fantastic buffet dinner and the sounds of Pixie & the Partygrass Boys provided the perfect background music!

The buffet was a collection of some of our signature favorites!  Like our Arugula, Pear, and Goat Cheese Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette and our Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Sage Butter, which is AMAZING!

We loved the multiple levels of serving dishes in the buffet because it added so much visual interest!  Another menu offering?  Our Roasted Fingerling Potatoes!

We rounded out the menu with our Green Beans Almondine and Lemon Herb Chicken!  What an elegant feast!!!

Isn’t Church & State gorgeous?  We love it and hope it inspires all of you planning your own events to check it out (and other new venues) to find a unique space that fits your style perfectly!  Happy planning, everyone!

And, talk about beauty!  How about this lace detail on the bride’s gown??  Plus, didn’t Artisan Bloom create a picture perfect bouquet?  LOVE!

CC_Laura&Charley3

One of our favorite parts of Red Cliff Ranch is this meadow with the red cliffs (for which is was named) that tower behind the ceremony site.  Such a breathtaking backdrop!

CC_Laura&Charley4

Of course, on this warm summer day, we made sure the guests had a great place to hang out during cocktail hour.  We served beverages and hors d’oeuvres that kept the guests mingling and happy until dinner was served.

CC_Laura&Charley5

Pulled Pork Sliders and  Prociutto Wrapped Utah Peaches were just a couple of the delicious bites our awesome team butler passed to guests!  So yummy!

We also created this AMAZING cheese board with local honey comb!  Such a hit!

Isn’t this reception space BEAUTIFUL?!  FUSE Weddings & Events never disappoints!  And those florals by Artisan Bloom?  Gorgeous!

The couple chose to serve the dinner ‘family-style’ which, as you know, Culinary Crafts loves!  We started with Artisan Breads like Black Peppercorn Cheddar, Beer Bread, and Corn Muffins with Utah Sea Salt Crusted Creamery Butters.  We also served Roasted Beet Salad with Snuck Farms Fresh Greens, Goat Cheese, Utah Pistachios & Citrus Honey Vinaigrette; Grilled Sweet Potatoes with Olive Oil, Cracked Pepper, and Sea Salt; Mesquite-Grilled Utah Red Trout with Tomato, Basil and Ricotta Risotto; Chicken Paillard with Napa Salad, Daikon, Mango and Mint; and finally Grilled Skirt Steak Cumin-Coriander Mushrooms, and Parsley Sauce.  SOOO good!

To follow up that AMAZING dinner, of course we had to create a decadent dessert bar – just like this one!

CC_Laura&Charley13

Chocolate Pot de Creme with Vanilla Whipped Cream and Mason Jar Berry Cobblers with Fresh Whipped Cream?  Yes, please!

CC_Laura&Charley14

Plus, House Made Gelato?  You bet!

CC_Laura&Charley15

We also made some ‘late-night’ snacks like these Mini Grilled Cheese Bites!  The guests LOVED them!

CC_Laura&Charley16

And, you can’t have a ranch wedding without an AMAZING s’mores bar, just like this one!  The guests always have so much fun making these treats by the fire!

This was SUCH a fun wedding and we are so grateful to all of the amazing vendors who made this day such a gorgeous one!  I hope this inspires you to plan some dreamy ranch weddings, everyone!  Happy planning!
