We here at Culinary Crafts are lucky. Not only do we get to be surrounded by the most awesome people ever and the most delicious food ever, but we get to participate in some pretty AMAZING events - and one of the most recent was seriously AH-MAZE-ING. Many of you who live in Utah are aware of the Utah Symphony and the Utah Opera (USUO, for short) and I gotta tell you, they boast some SERIOUS talent. It's phenomenal just how great they are (and that's not just my local-vore pride talking - it's totally true.) Recently, the USUO launched a campaign to make themselves even BETTER - The Campaign of Perpetual Motion. What is that, you may ask, well the USUO explains it like this:
"Seventy-five years ago, a miracle was set into motion. A miracle for its ability to inspire and astound through music, yes; but also a miracle for its capacity to gain momentum through the decades rather than stand still... The vision for the Campaign for Perpetual Motion is to continue to build and to showcase our world-class orchestra and opera company through a host of exciting initiatives leading up to the 75th Anniversary of the Utah Symphony in 2015-2106. These initiatives include touring, broadcasting, recording, recruiting, and educating."
Awesome, right? And we were asked to participate in the launch event! Check it out!!!
Symphony Hall is GORGEOUS and such a great space for this event!
We made these pretty little amuse bouche offerings to whet all of the guests palettes. Mmm. Those scallops look divine...
The event was incredibly artful and elegant, so we decided to host a plated dinner with a Cranberry, Walnut, Pear, and Goat Cheese Salad; Artisan Made Breads with Pepper Crusted Butter; and a double entree of Pistachio Crusted Salmon and Demi-Glace Beef and a Roasted Vegetable Tower. YUM!
I love the glass sculpture that is at the center of the Symphony Hall lobby. So beautiful!
Of course there was AMAZING live music!
We ended the night by serving a selection of small plated desserts, so all the guests could taste every one! Love it!
What a stunning night and a worthwhile campaign. We encourage you to give to this AMAZING organization and ensure that the USUO continues to keep their music in our fair Utah going strong! Happy giving, everyone!
